I'm not the least bit opposed to contributing toward another community article of some sort, but I personally don't have any ideas regarding what the article could be about. The Sonic fandom seems like it's always up to something crazy, I'm just not familiar with any especially outrageous projects the fans have been involved with recently. Any suggestions?

You didn't like Yogi Bear? It wasn't the greatest film ever created, not by a long shot, but for the target market it was made for I felt they did a reasonably good job. The same week, I saw Gnomeo and Juliet and as far as kids films go, it felt like Yogi Bear won hands down :)

I didn't actually watch the film, I just know from trailers and production stills that the characters fell so deep into the uncanny valley that looking at their glassy-eyed dead stares made my skin crawl. Although, I will concede the movie still looked way better than Gnomeo and Juliet.

After seeing what the studios have done with the live-action adaptations of Alvin and the Chipmunks, Yogi Bear, The Smurfs, et al, I'm convinced that it's impossible to create a CGI version of a non-human cartoon character that doesn't look absolutely awful. If I'm right, CGI Sonic would look unnatural at best, fucking repulsive and eerie at worst. Also, they'd have to rewrite the story to make it more "relatable" for audiences, probably giving Sonic some ridiculous, angst-ridden backstory and a human love interest in the process. Think of some unholy cross between the plotlines from Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic '06 and you'll have a basic idea of what a live-action movie script would probably look like.

I don't think I'd mind a full-length animated feature starring Sonic and co. so long as they got the right studio to produce it, but I can't imagine how a live-action film based on the franchise could be anything except dreadful.

Same here, though my posts don't seem to generate as much interest as they did back when everyone was meticulously scanning everything I wrote for Quote of the Month material.

Good to see you again, Movetron. Remembering all those heated debates the staff had about whether or not to ban you is making me all nostalgic... You seem to have grown up a bit, though. Should SOL ever pick up again, I think you could make a fine addition to the community. :)
