Many of you old-timers are aware that I was quite the Photoshopper back in the day. Unfortunately, my time is frequently occupied by other things these days, but I still create a lot of school-related pieces to show off. Kivtne's topic has inspired me to start a topic to stick my design, animation, and illustration/photo manipulation work in, so here we go!

First up, here's an animation I did for one of my classes. It's part of a large group assignment to take classic and well-known paintings and just mess with them. This is my take on Van Gogh's The Starry Night. Apologies for any blockiness; I wanted a low file size and high compatibility.

Here's another one I did, Grant Wood's American Gothic. It's unpolished because I was told I couldn't put it up on the public atrium's video screen, so I never bothered. I dunno, the meteor in the above killed more people, but they let me put that one up.

More to be posted in the near future.

I liked the first one a lot and the second one kinda made me laugh.

Damnit, now I feel discouraged from putting up my own computer art topic... Well, at least I know that you won't be doing any 3D work so I'm kinda safe in that area for now...

Sway can do anything better than you, so you might as well just kill yourself.

The same can be said for you, so by your logic, why aren't you dead?

Oh, sorry, one thing I wanted to mention about the American Gothic one was that it was a real pain in the ass to paint in what was behind the wife's head. Not really a necessary piece of info, but come on, it was tough.

Hahaha! Those were awesome!

I can tell you why they wouldn't allow the second one, but it's a thuroughly retarded reason. Anyway, those were awesome...

Indeed! You're quite the Photoshop wiz, Sway. I really liked those, especially the first one.

Glad you guys like them. These were actually mostly done in After Effects, though, MoA, although there was a fair bit of Photoshop work.

Here's one more I did from that project. It's one of my favorite paintings, The Son of Man by René Magritte. Originally it had sound, but when I encoded it to FLV it got fucked up, so whatever.

And this is something I traced out in Illustrator from an Arrested Development screencap.

Those are all really awesome man. I laughed really hard at both the Son of Man one and the American Gothic one. Can't wait to see more work!

Ha, that Pac-Man one was awesome!

That Arrested Development one is also cool.

Two DVD covers I made. Just temporary stuff until the real DVD came out for me to buy.

These are harder than they look because you often have to re-create studio logos and other elements if you want an authentic look.

In the first one, what program did you use to make those fire effects?

The fire specifically was ParticleIllusion.

Was that for the comet and the sparks that came off it, too?

A combination of ParticleIllusion and Trapcode Particular. There's probably five or six different particle effects combined, but yeah, anything related to smoke and fire was done with those two generators.

Also, thanks Q-ey.

Very nice... I've got DVD Empire open in another window right now and I'm looking at the actual DVD cover for The Departed. To be 100% honest, I think your mockup looks way better than the real cover art. Especially the back cover... After seeing yours, the real cover looks like the fan-made one. Again, very nice.

And just so this post doesn't seem like I'm kissing your butt, maybe next time you can hold off making alternate DVD covers to kill time and instead finish my goddamn forum skin!

So, um not trying to nitpick or anything but, if it's your forum, why aren't you trying to do these things yourself?

Because look at what Sway can do with his technological hob-nobbery, and then take the half-full thimble of talent MoA has, and do the math.
