Here's some work on my final project for the class. I'm working in Illustrator. The end product will be the exact size of a 12" vinyl record. We have to manipulate the artwork outside of the computer, so the finished work will be secured onto a record and I'll also be making the sleeve for the record. The concept behind this work involves how music has affected and describe different parts of my life. This is some of the work that will be displayed on the record. The runner in the boxing gloves represents the song "The Boxer" by Paul Simon, which was very inspiring to me when I was a runner in high school. The other one represents Technologic by Daft Punk, which deals with my phase in working with all sorts of technology at my university's help desk.

Okay change in the previous plan. That artwork will still play into the project, it'll just be in the form of the cover of the booklet that will go with a CD instead of a vinyl album.

Here's what I'm planning on printing on the actual CD. There's a color version and a black and white version. I'm not sure which I want to go with. Feedback would be appreciated! The song represented here is "I Feel Good" by James Brown. I have some good memories of that song when I used to go to Minnesota Twins baseball games with my mom.

It's good, but I think it looks a little more like Zombie James Brown than just James Brown.

Okay, well here's the final turnout of the project. I really liked how the entire thing came out as a whole. Looks sweet in the actual CD case too. You can click the images to see higher resolution versions:

This was the back of the jewel case. It's by far my favorite drawing that I've done so far.

This was what ended up being printed on the CD. They did a good job of getting it on there cleanly.

The booklet was a trifold that I duplexed on tabloid paper. This was the outside of the booklet, meaning the front, back, and inside flap. The cover is on the far right.

And this was the inside of the booklet.

I'm bumping this because I'm a self-whoring ass.

Awesome, man. I like your design for the jewel case. You know, you look really damn relaxed in that pic on your website.

That's because I was chilling in the Mozart museum in Germany. I think I was almost asleep when it was taken.
