Why do directors make remakes of old movies?
I mean the movie has already been done before, why do it again?
Should'nt movies be proggressing forwards, and not backwards?
Well Do you have a rant or opinion to disccuss...or do you like them?
I've made a list of good and bad remakes.
(GOOD)
Scarface (remade of a 1930's movie)
the thin red line
super man (the trailer looks good)
add any I did'nt put in.
(BAD)
King Kong
the punisher
War of the worlds
add any I didn't put in.
Well I have asked too many questions. so long every body.

King Kong was actually a very good movie, and that's not just my opinion, it was praised by critics too. Superman isn't a remake, it's a new movie. I also had no idea that The Punisher was a movie before, I thought that it was a comic book series, silly me.

Some other good remakes would be The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, as compared to the crummy animated series. Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe was a lot better than the previous movie made based on the book. I could probably name some others, but don't really feel like it.

The point isn't why they decide to remake movies, it's who is remaking the movies that counts. It all really depends on the situation and the quality of the previous movie. Just because it's a remake doesn't mean that the movie business is moving backwards, per say. Just that they're reinvisioning movies with current technology that wasn't available back when the original was made.

King Kong was a good movie... I had some problems with it, personally, but it was still a very enjoyable film. And on the topic of bad remakes, you can't forget the recent box-office disaster that was Poseidon. Of course, the Poseidon Adventure sucked pretty hard too, so maybe the producers were just trying to stay true to the spirit of the original.

Yes Mr. Magoo, hence the reason I typed "Of course, the Poseidon Adventure sucked pretty hard too..."

As for King Kong being predictable... Well, you know, considering the fact that it follows the plotline of an extremely well-known movie that's been around for more than seventy years, I'm not too surprised that the story didn't throw us many curveballs.

Don't patronize him for making a legitimately funny post just because you couldn't make a toddler hyped up on ecstasy laugh.

I actually likes King Kong a lot, but it was kind of corny...as usual.
War of the Worlds was kick arse, scary movie :s had to hide behind a pillow a couple times for that film. The Punisher...honestly, I have no idea what it's about or who acts in it. Superman looks sexy <3 a must see movie. Scarface was freaking awesome, and I'm not in to those kinds of movies usually.

The little girl was smiling at scary parts of the movie, which made me question why they didn't redo the scene...the other characters were well played in my opinion.

I reckon the remake of the Punisher is actually better, I mean in the original, Dolph Lungren(don't really know how to spell this) was Frank Castle and he lived in the sewer, it also had a pretty crappy plot.
Dawn of the Dead was a pretty good remake, I mean that is thee best zombie movie ever (horror wise, Shawn of the Dead is better) unless you're just gonna go off and say its not a remake or something. I also remember hearing that Friday the 13th was getting remade

One bad remake: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Red Planet was pretty bad too.

One good movie remake was Ocean's Eleven. The Italian Job was pretty wicked too.

Willy Wonka original was so freaking funny, and the oompa loompa's were all different people. There was only one guy playing all the il' orange and green guys...it just plain sucked. Johnny Depp shouldn't have agreed to do such a gay remake, he's better then that.

Actually, I really don't think that he's better than that. The guy's fairly erratic.

Oii... Johnny Depp... Haha. Willy Wonka. That was a freaky remake, I actually prefered the older one over the new one. He tends to do the freakier parts though, so it's not that abnormal for Johnny to do something like that.
