She's not telling you how to write your stories, she's offering VERY good advice on how to make them more original and tolerable by addressing what's been done already, and what you might want to avoid. Also, she has provided a helpful glossary of terms, so you can look it up when someone says there's too many goddamned Mary-Sues in your fanfic.

But do you get any better? Do you learn from your mistakes, or do you just try to fix them?

Challenge accepted. A little heads up, though, if it's anything like your posts, I'm going to find a LOT wrong.

Damn, I had plans to write a fanfic called Sagas, but Speeder already trademarked it. :(

I wouldn't worry about it. If he's as smart as he types, it'll probably be called "Saga's"

Speedo,Speedo,Speedo.

Have you learned nothing since you were banished from the respectable halls of the last BBS you were a member of late Summer 2006. It seems that you still haven't even learned to master the English language yet or the fact that I still don't give a rat's ass about you or anything that comes out that sorry excuse of a mouth. I'm still surprised that you are still acting like such a Noob, even more so than last year. You deserve a gold star for that.

1. Mastering spelling, grammar, and structure is important for anyone even at a kindergarden level.

2. This is common information that you should have been taught in school unless you were too smashed/mucked up to even notice it.

3. As Muzzy said, I was only giving sound advice from one writer to another. This is information that anyone could wiki or even google for.

P.S. All your Noobish cognitive skills just proves to the rest of the Sonic Community that you still have no class, and if you wish to continue to be disrespectful as well as hold your little grudge against me or my staff then take it to a PM.

Yeah. I agree. People shouldn't write a ton of junk. If they follow these guidelines it would at least be tolerable what they'd written.

Hopefully, I'm not one of the many who write, as said, "shit." I think I got at least a grip of the English language, or as in the case of America, the illegitimate son of the English language, but I don't know. An artist can't tell if he's talented or not, someone else does. As an amerature writer I wonder if I'm capable of producing tolerable stories. So, I want to know, from this post, do I seem to have at least have the building blocks of proper grammar?

I think I do, but I need someone else to double-check and give the "okay."

Otherwise, I'm going to be post story after story using the same wretched grammar.

I'm very glad for the advice. That's why I keep coming back to this site, because there are folks here who seem to care about language and its use as a tool in storytelling. I've been lurking anonymously for just under a year now, and only just became a member, but I've tried taking the advice to heart. Guess I'll also be seeing whether or not that helps me improve, or if I just keep repeating my mistakes. That's the benefit of writing in community, right? That we can improve our writing, not just share it.
