You can do that, a little shorthand is okay, I do that myself, but we're trying to get rid of a lot of the "kthxbye" kind of stuff.

Sway's become an English teacher... And I hardly use periods. Unless writing something that's more than one line. Otherwise, you'll notice in IMs, I don't use periods.
