Controls

Jump: up
spin dash: down + z
left, right: left, right
change level: A

This is a demo of the progress of the engine, I'd like to hear from you all etc tell me what you think. Bug test it, if something is broke then report it.

I'm looking for co developers etc, people who want to make their own sonic game based on the engine (very easy to do with little programming needed

Knuckles is able to wall climb

in 0.27

Knuckles doesn't run properly --fixed
T-Sonic doesn't move --fixed
knuckles doesn't glide and has bugs if he does --fixed
knuckles doesn't turn into a ball when running and then jumping --fixed

0.26

Acceleration
Characters don't skid like morons like they used too.
Loads of internal reworking


Known issues: knuckles doesn't always turn into a ball when jumping

Note: Knuckles hasn't been updated properly

If you don't want to hear me say all kinds of annoying things, don't look below:











OK:
1. It's more glitchy than something a baby made.
2. Why isn't T-Sonic animated? He can barely move too!
3. Loops need A LOT of work.
4. Sonic has poor acceleration and a horrible top speed.
5. Knuckles climbing area is screwed area. I could fly through the air with a climbing animation. (I suggest making an invisibe wall that doesn't let you go left or right if the animation playing is climbing)
6. I can barely move with Knuckles because the ground is somewhat 'sucking me in'.

2)t-sonic hasn't been made to work
3)loops are still being implemented
4) i look into that, if you want it faster or slower, its just a number change.

5) as i said knuckles hasn't been updated, the climbing is all non funcitoning but il look into it

thanks for your input xander and i will always appriciate responses like this as it will tell me how to fix the game. I've reworked the game so many times, stuff breaks here and there and its hard to forsee everything, generaly i work on one character and then clone their attributes to the other at the moment sonic is the most developed.

As for acceleration, sonic has a top speed of 8 and he increases in speed by 0.1, so if you want a faster acceleration then perhaps it should 0.4 and is the top speed to high then i'll just cap it lower to 6 or 7

Okay, I tested this, and there is definitely some work to do. I see the potential, there's a lot of good stuff there, but since you are looking for problems and want to debug everything, I'm going to be tough on this:

1. Jumps are okay, but if you stop holding forward in the middle of a jump, the character drops straight down rather than letting inertia work its magic, as it does in Sonic Team games. Similarly, you can't go backwards in midair like you can in other Sonic games. Also, it seems like there is a little hitch in the jump sometimes.

2. Change of direction is very poor, and there's no skidding. Working up to top speed is not smooth at all either. Very jerky.

3. Knuckles needs to glide much longer than he does currently. He can jump farther than he can clide. In the same vein, Sonic's temporary shield is just weird feeling, as it seems to bring him downward when it doesn't in Sonic Team games.

4. Collision detection needs a ton of improvement. I am launched in the air when I still had a few feet to go before I get to the jump, getting on top of platforms is tough, the characters don't even touch the ground on hills, and sometimes they don't even touch the ground when it's flat. You can go through those red walls if you get on the right side of them sometimes, and Knuckles can climb them past what is visible. I am sure you know all this, but make sure especially that hitting the side of a platform works like a Sonic game, because right now it works like all the other fan games.

I'll wait for the next release before I criticize some more. ;)

yay, someone looked at it :D . The collision detection is going to be reworked, i noticed how bad it was when i was making knuckles climb, its too far so the wall couldnt be solid as he was too far away.

i'll look into all of the things, it really does help as I don't get have to keep thinking of stuff.


Spin dash is broken (down + space) but il fix it in the next rework.

it's a good start...but I saw the same problems that Sway did. I did not meet t-Sonic yet in the game. Sonic seemed to lock up in his ball state and there was a wait time of about 15 seconds. Speed was a problem for Sonic and the name t-Sonic is so gay

Oh yeah, Sway would be the best name. Metallixx reminds me too much of that Beetle Borgs show.
