There is no Sonic Adventure 3.
There is, however, Sonic: Generations, a title to be released this coming holiday, featuring both the modern and classic 'versions' of Sonic.

What EP said. There's not going to be a Sonic Adventure 3, at least they're not working on one now.

That said, I'm definitely excited for Sonic Generations.

Indeed.
It seems they have come to their senses and filled the game with the best of both worlds, both metaphorically and literally. I do hope they include the option to choose which Sonic you can play as in any given level, rather than this "Classic Sonic for Act 1, Modern Sonic for Act 2" of stages I keep hearing about. I belive it's time that they gave us alternating gameplay and let us choose between them at will.

At the very least, there should be a level select option. I won't be overjoyed if this is the only thing they throw in, in this regard, though I will be content. This is SEGA's shining opportunity.

DON'T FUCK IT UP!

From the sound of it (and what I'm hoping is true), there will be two separate modes of play, and some stages from the 3D will cross through stages from the 2D stages.

Go play Colors.

No, seriously, it does that. It also adds powerups, and they don't suck or screw it up.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm missing some all important truth in the world. At that point I usually grab some chips and watch the people who have apparently found it tear each other apart in the super market over the now last bag of chips...

I agree with Noob there. I absolutely loved Colors. Definitely a return to old form. If they can just continue with that, I'll be happy.

I meant in a way so as to seamlessely incorporate the positive attributes of both time eras, without making them muttually exclusive to a singular style, still offering some degree of freedom without a chance of overlap.

I have no plan to buy Colours at any rate, too many games that pique my interest are releasing around this time, and along a staggered line throughout the year. Chances are my bank account will run dry.

Colors switches between 2-D and 3-D mid stage seamlessly, and offers multiple routes through the levels. It's exactly what you're describing minus the old Sonic's design.

By this, I meant that the attributes making the gameplay on both fronts attractive to players are not exclusive to one playstyle; due to the fact that, rather than meshing features of both into one playstyle, incorporating both playstyles and granting each their individual positive aspects, without them overlapping one another, as there are two separate experiences.

Freedom in the sense of getting to choose which playstyle you undertake, as opposed to in-game pathways.

No, I'm afraid it isn't. Unless Colours offers two separate experiences rather than blending elements together under a single gameplay style, then no, it isn't what I'm describing. I'm talking about taking the positive elements of both eras, and giving each their own individual playing methods. As far as I am aware, Colours does not do that, and only features a single playable character, (Or rather, only one version of Sonic.)

We got it. Two modes of play instead of one blended mode. Yada yada yada.

I move this topic be about Sonic Generations from here on out.

Perhaps you grasped the notion, but it is clear that not everyone did. I was merely explaining. Repeatedly.

A logical progression. Topic title change?

If this were a more active forum, I'd hesitate to change it, but who really gives a shit right now.

Although, to keep this topic off course for a little bit longer. None of us can deny we wouldn't love to see this.

Despite all the problems that have plagued the franchise for the past decade or so, there's something about the title "Sonic Adventure 3" that makes me smile... Nostalgic memories of a better time, I guess.

Speaking of which, my fear of getting burned yet again is keeping my hype levels for Sonic Generations lower than they could be. Sonic 4 was an overall decent game despite being marred by some unfortunate (as in easily avoidable) flaws, and I've heard mostly good things about Sonic Colors, so Sega's track record with Sonic is definitely looking better than it has in a very long time. The average quality of the Sonic games on the whole is still too deep in mediocre territory for me to really get pumped about a new installment in the series at this point, though. I'm still excited to see what Sega shows us at E3 this year, but I'm more comfortable not getting my hopes up for SG just yet.

My hopes for this game are still cautiously rising... Damn that looks good.

Interesting choice of My Chemical Romance in that first video though.

Still, I'm loving them going back to City Escape. That's still my favorite 3D sonic level of all time. I can still replay it in my head, I played that damn demo so much.

The demo of Classic Gameplay has just been released for a limited time only.
I thought it was really good.

I admit... I played the demo three times in a row yesterday.. Though, the 3D version that was in Sonic Adventure 2 that you unlock at the end seemed to be more of a true version of the original Green Hill. They seemed to have added alot more to this newer version. I don't recall the stretch to the goal being so long.. SA2 had you race down a hill to reach the goal. Overall though, I'm quite pleased. Yay for chubbier Sonic's return.
Still waiting for Shenmue III....

Dreamcast is still the ultimate Console!

Stop looking for just better graphics. Start looking for games that are original with a good story to it.

Uh, what 3D version you unlock at the end? I played through 10 times and never got that.

I'm very happy with the way the demo played. The physics felt right, and it seems like Sega has finally started to listen to what our problems are. From the level list () it looks like they've picked some good ones to recreate in this game, and it truly feels like a proper tribute to what Sonic is/should have been all these years.

Anyway, I thought this song was relevant to the topic at hand.
