Unless the peolple making it were fans or at least had a decent understanding of the material, AND weren't slappin' some shitty garbage together just to cash-in on the brand. But since that's all La La Land does, a computer/live action Sonic flick would be as big a travesty as Garfield - or most recently Yogi Bear.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose. -George Carlin.

I'm a small one-sided here, as being a Sonic enthusiast and all, but I desired to get your viewpoint on the subject. Do you want to see a Sonic the actual Hedgehog feature movie?
I think there is tons of possibility of the Sonic film franchise. They might inform the actual roots associated with Doctor Robotnik/Eggman, how Sonic met Tails and the good reputation for the Chaos Emeralds. Maybe perform a full-blown adaptation associated with Sonic Journey?
When they stay away from the old toons within the Nineties as well as stay with the japanese canon, have a strong concentrate on motion, and create Sonic's dialogue inside a smart, tongue-in-cheek & snarky method, instead of their "mondo cool, totally superb!" dribble based in the cartoon sequence, I think there is lots of potential there.

After seeing what the studios have done with the live-action adaptations of Alvin and the Chipmunks, Yogi Bear, The Smurfs, et al, I'm convinced that it's impossible to create a CGI version of a non-human cartoon character that doesn't look absolutely awful. If I'm right, CGI Sonic would look unnatural at best, fucking repulsive and eerie at worst. Also, they'd have to rewrite the story to make it more "relatable" for audiences, probably giving Sonic some ridiculous, angst-ridden backstory and a human love interest in the process. Think of some unholy cross between the plotlines from Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic '06 and you'll have a basic idea of what a live-action movie script would probably look like.
I don't think I'd mind a full-length animated feature starring Sonic and co. so long as they got the right studio to produce it, but I can't imagine how a live-action film based on the franchise could be anything except dreadful.

You didn't like Yogi Bear? It wasn't the greatest film ever created, not by a long shot, but for the target market it was made for I felt they did a reasonably good job. The same week, I saw Gnomeo and Juliet and as far as kids films go, it felt like Yogi Bear won hands down
Also, having recently played Sonic Generations I feel less concerned about the animation lately, and more concerned about the overall writing and acting. Sega seem to have a talent for getting relatively wooden voice actors for their American games.

I didn't actually watch the film, I just know from trailers and production stills that the characters fell so deep into the uncanny valley that looking at their glassy-eyed dead stares made my skin crawl. Although, I will concede the movie still looked way better than Gnomeo and Juliet.
