I love music! I love it! From the heartbroken ballads of Frank Sinatra in the fifties to the snarl of The White Stripes in the now I'll listen to anything (genre-wise that is). However I find myself an oddity, for I prefer the experience of a complete album rather than single songs. Some of the greatest music ever has been hidden, kept away from single releases or greatest hits compilations and to be honest there's something to be said for an experience that flows from beggining to end as well as a good album does. So I got to thinking "Surely I'm not the only one around these parts who feels the same" and so ladies and gentlemen and other folks what are your favourite albums? The list can be as long as 5, 10, 33, 500, 8923 or whatever you see fit.

Before we get to MY fantastic list let us lay down a few ground rules.

1. No greatest hits compilations. They don't count. They're compilations after all, not albums. For the purpose of this list it's only soundtracks, live albums and studio albums that make the cut.
2. Double LPs count as one album. You can't have Exile On Main Street Disc 2 for example.
3. Be sure to include the artists name as well. If you just put Let It Be we won't know if it's the one by The Beatles or by The Replacements.

Oh... and while this isn't necessary including the year of its initial will make your list look prettier. Just a reccomendation. Now? For my list.

1. Revolver (The Beatles, 1966, Pop)
2. Red (King Crimson, 1974, Prog)
3. London Calling (The Clash, 1979, Punk)
4. Rubber Soul (The Beatles, 1965, Rock)
5. Highway 61 Revisited (Bob Dylan, 1965, Rock)
6. Powerslave (Iron Maiden, 1984, Metal)
7. Remain In Light (Talking Heads, 1980, Rock)
8. Parklife (Blur, 1994, Alternative)
9. Paul’s Boutique (The Beastie Boys, 1989, Rap)
10. The Velvet Underground & Nico (The Velvet Underground, 1967, Alternative)
11. Forever Changes (Love, 1967, Rock)
12. Elephant (The White Stripes, 2003, Alternative)
13. Ramones (The Ramones, 1976, Punk)
14. Van Halen (Van Halen, 1978, Rock)
15. ...And Justice For All (Metallica, 1988, Metal)

Quite a list! I definitely have more modern tastes, perhaps as a product of my parents not listening to much of the music of their generation growing up, so my favorites likely will never look like a music magazine's 100 greatest albums of all time list, but eh. I like The Stones, The Kinks, Dylan, The Sonics, Hendrix, and what The Fuzztones do a lot, but not so much in a "favorite albums" capacity. I'm also very picky, so I tend to do artist mixes rather than albums, but, if these are the rules...

Not ranked in any order, just what I saw scrolling through my music that struck me. For all I know I could switch out pretty much everything except for like six albums.

1. White Blood Cells - The White Stripes (2001)
2. Elephant - The White Stripes (2003)
3. Rubber Factory - The Black Keys (2004)
4. The Big Come Up - The Black Keys (2002)
5. Stankonia - Outkast (2000)
6. Wolfmother - Wolfmother (2006)
7. Colorblind - Robert Randolph & The Family Band (2006)
8. A Ass Pocket Of Whiskey - R.L. Burnside (1996)
9. Nevermind - Nirvana (1991)
10. Ritual - Jape (2008)
11. Devil's Music - Teddybears (2010)
12. Whip It On - The Raveonettes (2002)
13. Get Born - Jet (2003)
14. Highly Evolved - The Vines (2002)
15. Winning Days - The Vines (2004)
16. Dual Mono - The Greenhornes (2002)
17. The Black Arts of Black Horse - Black Horse (2008)
18. Black Bone Child - Black Bone Child (2008)
19. Sea Of Cowards - The Dead Weather (2010)
20. Peace Love Death Metal - Eagles of Death Metal (2004)
21. Demon Days - Gorillaz (2005)
22. Welcome To The Monkey House - The Dandy Warhols (2003)
23. Baby 81 - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (2007)
24. Beat The Devil's Tattoo - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (2010)
25. Kill The Moonlight - Spoon (2002)

I searched through this page and found no Paul Simon. This is an issue.

1. Graceland - Paul Simon

I might add more later, but I hope you've all seen the error of your ways.

Hmm, the inability to post various artist compilations eliminates about two-thirds of my CD collection. Oh well, here's a sampling of what's left, limited to my top 25 most-played albums for brevity:

01. Hypnotica - Benny Benassi
02. Paper Tigers - Caesars
03. Celldweller - Celldweller
04. Discovery - Daft Punk
05. Homework - Daft Punk
06. For Lack of a Better Name - Deadmau5
07. In Silico - Deepsky
08. New Traditionalists - Devo
09. Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters
10. In Your Honor - Foo Fighters
11. Demon Days - Gorillaz
12. Secrets Are Sinister - Longwave
13. Business as Usual - Men at Work
14. We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank - Modest Mouse
15. Strength In Numbers - The Music
16. Once - Nightwish
17. In Silico - Pendulum
18. Melody A.M. - Royksopp
19. Airdrawndagger - Sasha
20. Love At First Sting - Scorpions
21. Libertad - Velvet Revolver
22. Don't Look Now - Way Out West
23. Who's Next - The Who
24. Antenna - ZZ Top
25. Eliminator - ZZ Top

EDIT: I realized that Led Zeppelin's "Mothership" is technically a greatest hits compilation, so I swapped it for something by another band since that's the only full LZ album I own.

Fairly unrelated, but Red, is your Nujabes collection organized very well? I have had the worst time getting his stuff properly tagged for like years.
