I was gonna suggest the Wave Beam. It can go through walls? Ooh, that's real useful for like one puzzle and zero fights in the entire game.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm missing some all important truth in the world. At that point I usually grab some chips and watch the people who have apparently found it tear each other apart in the super market over the now last bag of chips...

If you're only counting its 2D games' appearance, that is. Then again, I don't see why you wouldn't since the beam is radically different in Prime...

At least the Wave Beam actually had more areas of uses in the 2D games. Plus, it had a charge beam combo.

You know what upgrade Samus really needs? That magic wrench from Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts. Being able to construct tanks and planes out of various spare parts would totally kick ass in a Metroid game.

How about using armor plating and a spare engine to create a giant robot suit over top of Samus' regular suit? And then make that like the Sutherland Sieg and put it in a tank where it'll pop out when the tank is destroyed. Then let that hook directly into Samus' ship, and then let that Gurren Lagaan style hijack a federation ship, and then have that jack into a machine planet and then let that...

Mwahahahaha! Samus isn't just the strongest being in the galaxy anymore, Samus IS the goddamn galaxy!

Also, Metroid Missiles? Fuck Yeah, combine it with the Super Missiles to shoot out five at once.

Hahahaha combine that with the the Seeker Missle upgrade from MP2, so Samus could fire 5 super homing metroid missles.
