On the positive side, the new trailers for this game look really amazing. On the negative side, the table in the dining room will once again become wobbly once I stop using the Wii to balance out the length of the legs. Oh well, you win some, you lose some...

After taking a test and spending who knows how the fuck long in a store involuntarily trying on clothes, I finally picked up DKCR and my banana cover. I have an English assignment to do and I have this personal task I'd like to take care of, so I won't actually be playing the game 'til later. I'll be posting my thoughts later.

Thanks for the heads up, Q.M. I might not have bothered checking this thread again if you hadn't assured me it would contain some relevant information about the game we were discussing at some point in the future.

I only got to play the first stage before my body gave out and I had to sleep. I played it over and over again because I'm trying to find one more thing before I finally move on...

Controls are good, but I never did like it when I had to shake the remote to do something, especially when a button would've done the same. It sorta hurts my already wrists to shake the controller so often.

You all make me fucking sick.

Here's some nice concept art. I can't wait until somebody uploads the entire gallery. If any of them happen to be really nice and big, I'm making it my new desktop background.

Sorry, too busy playing Sonic Colors, which I'm surprised is this good, and Ogre Battle 64, which I just discovered was on Virtual Console.

Gah, what I really hate about you guys is that you're playing games I'd approve of you playing in place of this one right now. Fuck y'all.

Also, this game's much harder than the original trilogy. Beautiful stage designs, too. I like levels where everything becomes a silhouette in terms of graphical and audio style the most.

Listen to those type of levels' theme!

It's a jazzy remix of DKC's first stage theme.

Very nice.

This game has officially been added to my Christmas list, so I'll tell you what I think of the full game a month from now.

You just earned my approval with playing OB64.

I'll try to get this and Colors when I can. Golden Sun: Dark Dawn takes priority though.

I'm looking forward to getting this and Sonic Colors for Christmas (or possibly before). Unlike what seems to be the majority now, I played and love the original DKC games. It bugs me how they're constantly criticized for the stupidest things ever. DKC1 was one of the first games I ever played, and ever since Microsoft bought Rare, I thought DK was doomed to an eternity of spin-offs and weird Japanese stuff, so this is really special for me. Retro seems to be doing a fantastic job rebooting the series and adding a variety of new elements to the game while still retaining the charm and feel of the original. The art style is the perfect balance between cartoony and realistic.

I had never seen these before today, but wow. These are beautiful.

Oddly, this one reminds me of Planet Wisp. It's pretty cool that they brought back the girder levels, though. I think the only DK game they were in (other than the arcade games obviously) was Donkey Kong Land.

This one really reminds me of the original DKC games with the trees and that realistic ship.

Mirror Mode:

No Diddy Kong.
Only one heart, so getting hit at all is instant death.
No inventory items may be used, meaning no temporary invulnerability nor ability to take a hit whatsoever.
Reflection of stages are played, from right to left.
Stages are harder than in the original DKC trilogy.
If you're somebody who relies on Super Kong to get you out of tough spots, then I have terrible news for you...

Fuck the fourth temple stage in mirror mode. Burned through 80-90 lives and I'm still not finished with it. There are no checkpoints in these temple stages and they're longer and more difficult than the regular stages. This stage seems like it was designed for both Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong but, even playing this stage under normal circumstances with both characters, I still got hit at least once. Plus, it was still pretty hard even then...
