Just discovered this. PC release for Monday via Steam.

Mixes racing elements with puzzle elements and barrel launchers found in the Donkey Kong Country games.

Gameplay looks to be simple to learn, but difficult to master. I imagine it'll have a time attack mode if the missions aren't already timed. The game records your times and there'll be online leaderboards which I'm hoping won't be tainted (ha!).

Graphically, I'd say the game looks really nice.

Does anybody else reckon the stage at 12 seconds looks like green hill zone? This game does look pretty sweet, I just might have to hop back on steam just for it. It actually reminds of old school gaming like snes and megadrive (genesis) games, though I'm slightly confused with PC games nowadays. If it's released on steam, is it avaliable world wide straight away or is it just released on certain servers at different times?

Yep and I also felt like some of Hill Top was in there, too.

As for when the games are released, I couldn't tell ya. The last game I got on there was VVVVVV, which I think was a couple of months ago, and I can't remember what the last game before that was, if there was one. I don't get games on PC often.

Oh, and shit, I just totally remembered this one game one of y'all started a topic for! I remember KennEH going on about how it was developed by some Canadian guy. Gotta go find it and see how it turned out...

Just wanted to say that there's now a demo out for those who may not have bothered to check the game out because they couldn't try it out before buying it first. You need Steam to download it.

http://store.steampo...d.com/app/50000

Also, since I didn't bother elaborating more about it here, I'm gonna quote myself from the TV tropes page I started:

Quote

Created by Noumenon Games, Nimbus is a game on the PC that mixes aspects from a variety of games, including puzzle solving, racing against the clock (and, many times, deadly obstacles), barrel cannons, and secret stage exits, among other things. The objective of each stage is to solve various puzzles as quickly as possible without becoming stranded the ground or being killed. The ship does not propel itself in any way. The player will need to find ways to accelerate to gain/maintain height and speed whilst avoiding (most often lethal) traps or bumping into walls, which will considerably decrease their speed. There is an online leaderboard for players who enjoy competing for the lowest possible times.

Reviews for this game have been very positive and there are many plans for this game's future. It can be purchased from Steam for $10. There is also a downloadable demo for those who want to try the game out first.

Video's also up on the download page.

For the sake of convenience, however, I'll post it here again:

Cool. Just keep in mind that, out of the 86 stages the game currently has to offer, the first few are extremely short and easy, so don't let that fool you. Stages become much longer, more difficult, and more complex later on.

That was definitely Green Hill's texture.

After playing the demo I can safely say I won't be getting this game. The controls, while spot on, make me go crazy after hitting a whole (switching up right with left and vice versa). After a while I did get use to it, but as with most games, every time I take break form the game I'd have to readjust myself to playing.

The main reason why I wouldn't get it though is because I think it's a bit too "simple." For me it's more of one of those games you get for a handheld and waste some time on it when on the bus or a waiting room, not for actual game time.

First off, haha, yeah, the left and right controls getting reversed after speeding up or all of the controls getting switched around after changing the direction of gravity still screws me up after not playing for a bit. Out of everything in this game, you'd think I'd at least be used to changing directions at high speed by now.

Secondly, erm, too simple? Could you go into that a bit more?

If you're judging the game as too simple because of the first few stages, then I'll tell you the same thing I told some other guy who claimed that he'd be able to beat this 86 level game in only three hours:

The first stages are very simple and short like in many other level-by-level games. The game has you solving puzzles that only get much longer, deadlier, and more complex as the game goes on. Also, as the game goes on, more and more stage gimmicks are introduced and are often blended with eachother. A lot of the time, your reflexes will be put to the test as well. If you're aiming for secret exits and to collect coins, you will be forced to take alternate paths, many times of which are very specific and difficult, thus adding replay value to the stage. Then there are the leaderboards, if you want to compete with others for the fastest times.

You know what? Tell me which stages you were allowed to play in the demo. I'd check myself, but I already bought the game, so I'm only able to see the full game. Also which difficulty would you be playing on? Because, on hard, you're forced to complete stages in one go due to checkpoints being disabled. This isn't going to mean much on the first few stages, I know, but later, stages can become a nightmare.

By too simple I meant that it wasn't something I would invest my "sit down and game" time into. It would be more something I'd play on my bus ride to work or in a waiting room. I know I'm repeating myself, but I'm not sure how else to explain this. Games that I can pick up and put down easily fall into this category of mine, puzzlers are an easy fit.

Ah, okay then. I thought you may have felt the same way about the gameplay as that other dude. I'm still curious about the available stages in the demo, though.

Actually, I can just check that on my new laptop this Saturday...
