I've been feeling inclined to get into movies about the old west ever since beating Red Dead Redemption. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

I haven't seen any. I looked up high-rated films in IMDB yesterday. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was pretty high up there.

But it will still keep you entertained.
If you want westerns, go to Blockbuster and ask for any movie with John Wayne. Al Bundy recommends 'Hondo', and I's like to think Al Bundy wouldn't steer you wrong.

Don't just watch The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Gotta watch the first two; For a Few Dollars and For a few Dollars more.
Unforgiven, Pale Rider, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Dirty Dozen, Rio Bravo, True Grit, The Magnificent Seven, Rio Bravo, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Actually any western with Charles Bronson, John Wayne, or Clint Eastwood are usually guaranteed to be worthwhile.
Westerns without any of those guys that were pretty good would be The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and Dances with Wolves.
For comedy Blazing Saddles, mentioned before, is great. The Frisco Kid is also quite funny.

What's that one with Will Smith in it? You should watch that one.
Wild Wild West, I think. I've seen it.
