I just watched a rather spectalur little film called Der Untergang, or "Downfall" in English. It's about the last ten days or so of Nazi Reign over Germany, focusing around Hitler's secretary, Traudl. It's won a few awards, and really surprised me about how they were able to portray many of the people whom we try to have shown as soulless monsters so fairly. They're still horrible, yes, but you also feel for them. It's all in German and with a little bit of Russian (the last bit, being a rather short conversation), but it did nothing to detract from the film (obviously enough). I would recommend it, but I would also like to hear the forum's opinion on the movie.

Only reason I even know of this movie is because of all of the parodies of Hitler's outburst, my favorite of which being this one.
I haven't actually seen it, although I can see why it wouldn't portray them as complete monsters, given everything I've learned about the people committing these horrible acts.

I've seen this movie. It's really, really good. I'm all about any film that shows Hitler as a person, and that scene where the mother poisons all her children in their sleep? Classic.
