Howdy! I've been visiting this website since last April (I think it was Sonic World back then, but whatever), mostly the fan fiction, but I just joined. I've noticed that the activity has gotten a bit quiet, but maybe it's the holidays/new year and my timing is just a bit off. I've never been a part of a fan site before, but the fact that I kept drifting back to you all convinced me I should try being an actual member.

It's been Sonic Online for like five years.
Holy shit I thought I was overestimating and then I realized that I joined in '05. If that's the case then it's been Sonic Online for at least like eight years.

That may be true, I think I misjudged it. I was going by the old bookmarks I still have for those pages, so I just don't know anymore.....

Yeah, the first posts from 2003 indicate that there was a board that a small group posted on before the one we post on now existed, though I didn't expect them to have been around since 3 years prior. I remember Sway going kinda insane with Matrix references back then...
Requiem, if you've been around since back then, were you under a different alias or were you just working behind the scenes until a certain point?
Also, welcome to the boards, SoDi. Sorry to have to tell you this, but the Fan Fiction forum doesn't really get any activity anymore, but that's no reason why you can't stay and post in other topics..

I'd done a some work before joining the site. Jan 2005 was just my official début, you could say. I've got a good idea of the history, though
Way back in the day, the other administrator was Babylon/Stryder. He had a site called Sonic Online (it was on a free webhosting service at the time) and decided to buy the domain sonic-online.com in Feb 2001. At some point, he became part Sway's already well established team and the SOL you know and love today sprung into existence! The forums were opened in 2003 as a way to gather interest, and things, but there was a staff forum prior to that which had plenty of conversation and ideas going.
That's the short version, anyway. We have a fairly decent archive of things, which is my surprise at not being able to find all the old junk where it started.
