Weed

I have this friend, Jessica, and she loves to get high. This is perfectly fine with me. I don't agree with it, but it's not directly harming anyone and it's a freedom I'm willing to let her enjoy. However, this is where she starts to piss me off; she constantly tries to get me to smoke weed, which I've explicitly stated I never want to do. Still, she pushes on. Tonight, however, she decided to call me up, burnt out of her fucking mind, and decided to talk to me about, you guessed it, weed. Like I said, I have no problems with other people using the stuff, but why can't people understand if I wouldn't want to talk to you when you're drunk, I wouldn't wanna talk to you when you're high? Christ. Obviously, I can't exactly blame her for making poor judgements while she's stoned, but still, even when she's not, she's pretty goddamn bad about it. I've ended up blocking her for the night. She can talk to me when she's sober.
What are your opinions on the subject?

The thing is, whether you're even talking about marijuana or not is a moot point in a situation like this. If you try to push something on someone else, and they say no, that should be the end of it. Whether you're dealing with weed or alcohol or prescription drugs or some perfectly innocent and non-habit-forming hobby, you shouldn't try to force anything on someone if it's something they flat-out tell you they have no interest in. It's all about respect. When you offer something to someone, you're giving them a choice, and once they make that choice, you should respect their decision.

Now, this here's your atypical ice bong. Called such because, as you may note, the neck narrows down in the middle catching the ice. Making the smoke nice and cool as it builds up in the chambers, making for a nice cool draw of smoke. The local boys call this one 'Ocean Man', after it's blue glass and white inlaid lines. Verr classy.

The chaps call this The Beaker. Should be pretty obvious why. Yup, we don't bother to name these things until we're NICE and high. Though the pic doesn't show it off, the bong is actually quite thick, and has taken more than one clumsy drop. it's also an ice bong, the catch being at the base of the neck. The irony? The neck it too narrow for regular sized ice cubes that you might find in your freezer. Woe.

Though this may seem like a green version of a previous bong, it's worth noting this baby is 2' high. A regular tower of trauma. Always fun to see people strut up to this and limp away, coughing and hacking. it's a bitch to fill up with smoke, and even bitchier to take the whole fog in one go. This is what the kids refer to as a party piece.

Here's a twist! a good old fashion hookah. Dubbed 'The monopus' by the local natives, this rare and dangerous creature works on the same premise as a bong (Water filtered smoke), except the draw is small and light. While a bong tears through your lungs in one or two quick Shin-Shoryuken like hits, the hookah is smoked low and slow. Worth noting that, as it's a hookah, you have to use a coal to keep the bowl burning. I've found wrapping the weed in tin foil (Yes, TIN FOIL!) then placing the coal on it works wonders. Thanks to this handy device, I can smoke with two hands free, making my dream of playing Gradius and getting high simultaniously a very real reality. Yay!

The difference in that being no one wants a stoner pilot, while a demolitions expert who watches the office can still blow up buildings just fine. Willingly inhibiting oneself takes a lot a way from what you can do. Maybe the guy can smoke up inbetween flights and be fine, but Mr. Drug Test will catch him and ground his ass if he does. While you can tell me that it has no effect on you, if it stays in your system long enough to be caught after 30 days in a piss test, its still effecting you long after you smoke it.
Additionally I am going to argue it is stupid to smoke weed and do drugs purely on the fact that you have now limited your places of business. I have a security clearance and stuff I don't want to go into details about. You don't get that if you are lighting up. Now at the risk of sounding like bragging, you get paid better money if you have a job where you are required to be clean. I don't like inhibiting my ability to get whatever job I want.

I guess the argument captures my feelings on marijuana, not so much the arguments I'd use against it. For ever non-typical stoner I know there about eight dead beats to go along with that guy. I have seen brilliant individuals take up marijuana and other drugs and become lazy as shit individuals. Now they work meaningless minimum wage jobs and are bottom rungs of society. I dunno about you, but to me that kind of lack of ambition is kinda pathetic.

I agree with MoA, but for some odd reason, I find that weed is an activity that makes you want to get others into it. Many people I know who smoke have either had recreational smokers introduce or have introduced others. I Haven't tried any other drugs so I don't know if this is an across the board feeling.
