First off, I want to say this topic really isn't pinpointing anyone out. Lord knows we've had few enough introduction topics recently that no one in recent memory has really done any of these things. I just thought I'd post this as a future reminder for when we do get the rare new member.
Just a few topics of discussion:
For starters: Everyone knows it, this place hasn't seen a lot of discussion lately. I'm not sure how many of you guys visit on a daily basis because, quite frankly, I'm not going to go through and look at each of your profiles to find that out. But whether it's because no one has anything to say or because no one really comes around anymore, I feel we can all agree that this place has been pretty dead recently, and could use some more members posting and contributing.
That's why I'd just like to remind everyone that when we do get the rare newb (or n00b, as the case may be) we can't act like we have in the past. Posting first-thing to a forum in an introduction topic and then having every member jump on you about your spelling, grammar, or favorite kind of cheese isn't an experience that leads to repeat customers, if you get my drift. Different times call for different measures, so I would just like to stress to everyone that when we do get new members, please be kind to them. Be sure to let them know how we feel about proper posting, sure, but don't do it in an overly nasty way like we have in the past. In addition, if someone has already let someone know about our policies, and you take a look at your post and realize that it's almost identical in content, change it up. We don't need 5 people in a row telling an anxious (or cocky, as the case may be depending on the amount of keyboard courage present) new member about how they should post here. Instead, greet them kindly. Maybe ask about their interests instead. People love to talk about themselves, and the more we get to know our new members, the more we can find out what we have in common to discuss.
Just think before you post and you'll be fine. If you're still around after this dry spell we've been having, you're one of the good ones, and know exactly what you need to do to properly greet a new member if you just put a little thought into it.
TL;DR - Read it anyway. Remember it too. I don't give a shit if it's long, it's important if we want to have any chance of keeping this place alive, dammit.

I've been nasty in the past, but it was a discussion with Kvitne that lead to this. Actually, it was the topic of FROSTSPINE that got us to here. That's right, thank the batshit crazy banned dude. But... I'll be doing my best to rope in new members for the forum. Let's hope you guys can do the same and follow Kvitne's advice. commands.

It's not the first time we've been instructed to stop criticizing new members for terrible grammar. I've long since stopped doing it mainly because I didn't care anymore. Usually, their post would have to be hard to understand or totally unreadable for me to comment.
Something that I've also noticed is that some of you will say something completely insane/rude, and correct them on their grammar if it's terrible, when introducing somebody without actually introducing the new member. I know I've been guilty of making remarks toward others in an intro topic without doing the same, but I tend to not even respond to an intro topic unless the person's gone for good. If they do stay, and, in a lot of cases, if I like them, I'll greet them.
Next, we seriously need to start throwing ideas for conversations around. Most topics we get nowadays are spam topics that don't really amount to anything. Open Discussion used to be the fountain of topics that almost about anyone could partake in, to some extent, at least. Now, it never gets any new topics and the topics now get split between the joke forum with a constantly changing name, Sega and Sonic, General Gaming, and General Entertainment, with the former of the former two just getting a bunch of topics where people act moronic, the latter of the former two either getting extremely generic topics that nobody wants to post in or ending up just like the ones in the joke forums, and the latter two getting topics that generally only appeal to a few people at best and at worse, only the topic starter. On top of that, out of the latter two, there are people who are more inclined to post in one forum over the other, like me, who really only cares for General Gaming.
Also, going back to the point about people posting in intro topics without even introducing members, this also applies to other topics as well. Some of you give the illusion that you're actually interested in the topic at hand when people see that their topic has received a new reply. If you're going to post in a topic with some thought put into it, then at least comment on the topic at hand, even if your'e only there to correct somebody about something completely unrelated or whatever.
Lastly, fuck you for calling your post tl;dr, Kvitne! Seriously, that makes me feel terrible...

I'm just going to ignore SS and go straight to replying to Marx.
I completely agree with you Marx. People, when someone posts an introduction topic, actually welcome them in your post. Don't just ignore them and only talk to other current members in the topic. That makes us seem cliquish and drives away new members.
As for actual topics of discussion, we really shouldn't address that sort of thing here in the introductions forum. All I'll say is that I know exactly what you're talking about and am trying to create some more topics so we can generate discussion that doesn't revolve around complete retardation.
As for TL;DR. That's the internet these days, holmes. Anything larger than a three-line paragraph is too long for some people.
