I was watching the GI:Joe DVD and the first preview was of Avatar the last air bender movie.AT first it started out like any regular kung fu looking movie...then it reveals all the crap from the cartoon.Honestly I sort of freaked a bit I thought I was seeing things not 'cause I liked the show or anything it just freaked me out.Well I didn't know if anyone knew or just didn't care to report it,but the reason for my freak out was that when it comes to cartoons they're usually around for a good many years before the idea for a movie comes up. Some examples are Scooby Doo, GI:Joe, Transformers, you get the idea. These have been around for a long time but Avatar is still in some ways recent, why make a movie of it now?

Probably because Avatar won't have the same appeal in 20 years as it does now.

And because the whole series is over and they have nothing more to do with the show.
I'll think of somthing soon.

Still it does seem awful sudden I mean even dragon ball has just NOW technically gotten a movie and that cartoon has been around a whole lot longer. It just doesn't make sense to me,Transformers was very popular when it first came out but if you think about it can you honestly say that after the original cartoon the others had much appeal? I don't know really but do any of you believe this movie is going to do any good?

Actually, Transformers Armada was creative with the roles of the Autobots and Decepticons and I like to think it has earned its place among the Transformers hall'o fame. I don't think adaptions of cartoons are necessarily bad, it's just that they're often by fans of the work, who have their own interpretations of the characters, cultures and the world of the work they're adapting and often these interpretations are on a more personal level than what can be entertaining. Avatar actually has a good enough world that I could see it being pulled off, but you can't really be sure.

Overrated.

I didn't read the topic at all, but posted my initial reaction to the topic title. Overrated: that's what the film will be.

You mean "The Last Air Bender"...Directed by M. Night Shamalayn or however you spell his name...

I thought you were talking about James Cameron's "Avatar" film...

The movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan so I wouldn't be too sure of that.
