AnachronASM Audio Show

Well, I've gotten together a little group with my friend MacK, myself, and a girl from Kansas (I ain't giving out her name for privacy reasons. You'll find it out if the show gets off the ground) to form a sort of comedy group. Well, what we're doing is making an audio show that lovingly parodies the radio shows you would find in th 30s, 40s, and 50s, with all the racism, sexism, and outright ignorance you'd expect. We're gonna keep it tongue in cheek, since we don't want to set off any alarms, but essentially the show will run like this:
0-15 minutes: Introduction, followed by the discussion of a certain topic. We'll be talking about modern issues, but adressing them like we were in the commie-fearing, nazi-hating days. For example, we'll talk about the recession, but act as if it was the great depression. Every once in a while, we'll get a guest.
15-25: From here, we'll play some music from days gone by, with a large selection of Perry Como, Louis Armstrong, the Penguins, Edith Piaf and loads of other famous musicians of that day. We'll try to keep things fresh, but we might also take requests.
25-40: Here is when we will play the "Intergalactic Adventures of Alan Dodge and his Robotic Partner, Tinman Thompson". It'll be set in a sci-fi version of WWII, and will be just as ridiculous as you'd expect. We're not gonna have many voice actors, considering that I myself am a rather talented one and can pull off a lot of characters myself, but if any of you are interested, you could contact me and get feautured in an episode.
40-50: We play some more music.
50- 60. This is where we end off, finishing off our discussion and saying our goodbyes. We also might read an email from a fan, depending on what our decision comes to.
This is gonna start around Christmas time, once MacK and I have got jobs to support the domain we're gonna buy. We're gonna be using ads and donations to keep us up as well, but that's another thing all together. If you're interested in the project, talk to me about it and maybe we can feature a feature of yours on the site.

I really like the name of your planned show. Given that one of your friend's names is MacK, is it safe to assume that the ASM is an acronym for your names? Based on past topics, I can tell that you're into politics and shit from before 1960, so I can picture you doing something like this, but what motivated you guys to consider this idea?
Haha, good luck with that. Since this is gonna be done in a comedic fashion, most would understand it's a parody, but I bet there are still a lot who would bitch and moan at you guys, even with a notice explicitly stating that you guys weren't being serious. Then you'll have those who are intolerant of making light of certain things...
But this is all assuming that it becomes popular and spreads.

Well, MacK and I were in class, and I just really decided to start writing a radio show script like we had been discussing since I brought up the Green Hornet at lunch (he was a detective type character with his own radio show). Give that he's a war fanatic and I'm rather interested in the early 20th century, it just sorta clicked. The name itself isn't an acronym, rather it was based on how I did the lettering for the final letters. (They're rather stylized).
And I understand that people are assholes and will be ignorant when they can be, but I just don't want to garner too much bad press. Hopefully, this thing will kick its ass off the ground once we start. We'll be doing some word of mouth advertising, but I hope you guys can check it out if it gets out there.

It's going to have a very American influence, especially since I adore 1950s United States, but really, no, not really. It may appear in some episodes, and then shift to another nation entirely for another.

I wish you a lot of luck. Just be sure to be subtle with it or it won't work. Beating us over the head with "HAHA MISOGYNY! WOMEN ARE SIMPLE MINDED!" never works. Even though it's a drama, I think you could definitely look to Mad Men for inspiration and guidance on how to do it right.
What is it that makes a complete stranger dive into an icy river to save a solid gold baby? Maybe we'll never know.

The racism will be more overt, with things like calling the Japs "nips" and making comments on their squinty, but that's only because of the second world war mindset. Blacks will be treated better because they're on our side, and this is around the time the black protagonist started to become popular. The misogyny will NOT be very apparent, because I want a "Rosy the Riveter" sort of feel to the whole thing. One of the recurring characters is actually going to be female, and integral to some of the adventures' sucess.
