I have now broken my record as to how fast I have returned a game to Gamestop which was previously 3 hours 15 minutes on not getting both discs of Star Ocean 3. My time for returning FFT is at 1 hour and 27 minutes because it is so terrible.
Dear Square-Enix,
If you don't want to piss off your customers, try having someone other than a glue sniffing, retarded chimp code your games.
I mean my god is it awful. The whole thing moves at approximately two-thirds the speed (my memory may be hazy, but this is definitely slower, although I don't know exactly how much), and worse, every single special animation, and I mean EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE, including using a goddamn POTION, causes the game's frame rate to drop into the single digits.
The worst part is, while the gameplay is half-assed, the artistic side was given 110% all around. The new cutscenes are gorgeous, and look like the concept art brought to life, with pencil hatch lines and everything. The voice acting is pretty good too, and the music is very faithful since what was not directly ported was arranged only slightly and keeps the same feel. Another great thing is that the entire game's script, from dialogue to job skill names, was rewritten in a modified "Ye Olde English" style, and it's clear enough to understand, whilst adding just enough regional influence to really draw you in.
If only using Fire 1 didn't turn the game into a slideshow. Seriously, that's just inexcusable Square. Just because Tactics was the first game of yours not to have shit coding doesn't mean you have to be jealous of the Ogre Battle guys that coded it for you and fuck it up.

The one on the left is emulating the original Tactics at full speed, and the other two are running the English and Japanese WotL, respectively.
It might not look too bad, but keep in mind that it does that for every single action in the game, and the sound effects don't lag with it, so you get this big annoying de-sync.

Square, next time you hire monkeys to fling poo, don't also have them port your games for you.

It also depends one what model of PSP you are playing on as the hardware has changed as well as the CF you are running with it.

Anyways, none of this matters since I just went and emulated the PS1 version on my PSP. Guess what? It has no lag problems what-so-ever. Now that's some sad shit.
