I am singlehandedly saving the forum with this topic. Bow to me and my generosity. Be thankful that I bless you with my patronage! BOW! BOOOOOOOOOOW! But seriously, someone post like, pictures of kittens or some shit like that in here. We can't afford for this sacred place to fall into... Whatcha callit... Uh... Obscurity. That's it.

I think maybe it's because people are generally only interested in what they themselves have to say.

What they said. Only time we ever get any real activity around here is when everyone is playing a similar that they enjoy game or bashing some disliked member(s), regardless of whether or not said member(s) deserved it. Even when it comes to games that many of us enjoy, the chances of trying to have a conversation about it are still very low unless it has online multiplayer capabilities. Even then, the chance for conversation is still pretty low at best. Unless Shmeckie has anything to say about the subject.

Sadly, any staff member not Kvitne (probably because many remember him being a normal member) posting in/starting a topic also seems to have a great effect on the amount of activity said topic receives unless, of course, the topic involves bashing a member and/or gives people a chance to act really fucking stupid, either of which will eventually be closed, thus killing activity. I'm actually thankful for when those types of topics do get put to an end because I'd like to have an actual conversation about something interesting.

Most of the older (in age, not join date) members have a lot of things going on in their lives, so posting here is very low on their list of priorities. Also, nobody posting all that much in the first place gives them little motivation, if not none at all, to come here as frequently as they used to, assuming that they did in the first place. On top of that, aside from dumb topics getting locked, the tendency to not reply to others' topics kills any motivation to start new topics, hence why most of them come from newer, hopeful members. Unfortunately, they tend to be young and only want to talk about something Sonic related that's already been discussed an umpteen amount of times or is really stupid, causing people to just flat out ignore them.

Yeah, Marx has it pretty much exactly right. I used to come here a lot. Like all the friggin time. Now there are days where I don't even look at the site.

On that note, who wants to talk about Android 2.0?

To be honest, I actually contribute only on whim. I leave most gaming discussions alone because really, I'm more of a film nerd than I am a gamer, no matter how many games I own. In the end though, this place is a great community. I'd have to really disagree with Scourgekito, because cynicism is for paedophiles and communists. In all honesty, I come here more to find something funny to laugh at or something to find interesting, and often just lurk around rather than post.

Dude, if you're a film buff then start posting some topics. I'm a huge film nerd as well.

I don't think Scourgekito literally meant that a person only gives a damn about what he/she has to say. We just don't share as many interests with eachother as we use to and, when we do discover that more than one person is interested in something, one person's interest in something tends to not be as strong as another's. Even when they are, both people have to actually feel like talking about it at the time.

I think I can use myself and you two to describe what I just said. I'm way more of a gamer than I am a viewer of things, unlike you two. Unlike Mr. Retro, I don't ever come here in hopes of finding something to laugh at unless I've already encountered something here that would've made me expect something to laugh at. While he lurks more than he posts because he'd rather read what others have to say (also, fuck you, by the way), I lurk because nobody seems to wanna talk about what I want to.

Wow, I'm really pessimistic. From the way I'm making it look, SOL really will die in the not too distant future.

Just curious...I've gotten better with photoshop and what-not, and I've also built up quite a collection of custom Scourge sprites... Who would be curious to see me go through with that Scourge comic I talked about long ago? I could REALLY use something to do at work... I can only watch Squidbillies so many times <=(

Dude, Marx, no one does work at work anymore. Scourge, go ahead with the comic. You'd have at least one reader.

Maybe someday I'll be free enough to post a ton. We'll see. Shit, might as well post some film/TV stuff this weekend. Dexter, Mad Men, Bored to Death, The Office, and 30 Rock are all on, Black Dynamite looks like a kick-ass movie I really wanna see, etc.

And then I think I have time to get back to The Oregon Trail, too.

Good job saving the forums, Mr. Retro.
What is it that makes a complete stranger dive into an icy river to save a solid gold baby? Maybe we'll never know.

Why is it that every video you post is really stupid but strangely awesome?!
