I saw the commercial just last night and thought I'd tell everyone.The Darren Shan novels also known as the Cirque Du Freak series has now not only been turned into a manga but a movie. The title is that of the second book but from what I saw of the trailer it seems to comprise of the first Two books combined.The commercial said it's due date is the 23rd of October It didn't give a year so I'm thinking it may be THIS year.Tell me your thoughts on this for those who may actually have read the books or manga.

Cirque Du Freak deals more with the strange in general than just vampires, or so I think.

Based on the trailer I watched, this film looks like the bastard lovechild born from a messy three-way between Twilight, Harry Potter, and any given Nickelodeon movie made within the last eight years or so. In other words, it's everything I hate all rolled into one film! Thanks, Paul Weitz!

Have you even read the books? sure no movie ever in existence has went "by the book" but sometimes I've learned if you read the books you have a better understanding of the characters and conflicts plus no offense to twilight lovers but the Darren shan novels were out way before twilight came around. It was on it's last volume book 12:sons of destiny before twilight even came to the shelves. It just so happened that twilight became a movie before it.what Mr.retro said is true it deals with the strange in general it just so happens to be centered on the character Darren shan who becomes a HALF-vampire.It was titled Cirque Du Freak (Circus of freaks) because it is also centered around the cirque.There's the ringmaster Mr. Tall, Truska the bearded lady, the wolfman ( he is not a werewolf by the way), Mr.crepsly and his spider madame octa, Evra Von the snake boy, and many others as well as the mysterious and creepy(evil)Mr. Desmond Tiny.That's only a FEW characters off the top of my head. It does deal with vampires but not the ones like in twilight or any other vampire movie you'll know, it's sort of a grotesque or dark story really definitely not for the faint of heart...however I think they might screw THAT up by making the movie too humorous when it is actually a very serious story.
I think this is the most I've ever said about a subject.Well I love the series even though I'm not a big fan of the macabre stuff. I found the new take on vampires actually refreshing, Yes they still drink blood but I won't say any more you'll have to find out. I don't believe in spoiling everything about such things.

I have not read the books. As a property however, it looks to be more interesting than twilight for sure.
