This is mainly intended for the biggest Mac fan [I think] here on this forum.. Kvitne, but is not limited to this specific Mac owner. I have a bunch of files that I'm taking with me on a couple of DVDs, and I want to know if there are going to be any issues taking them off [they're in folders] and putting them on my Laptop so that I can access them. I know that there are files that won't be compatible like Fl Studio, Reason, or maybe an emulator or two, which I can easily find from the list I made to redo them, but are there any programs that I may need to be able to use my same files with ease? Most of them are albums, videos, or other types of media, but as I said, I'm mainly asking if folders created on a PC will cause any issues during transfer.

P.S. - If I don't already have it, is Snow Leapord worth spending the extra money for?

1. Snow Leopard is worth the $30. Get it.

2. You don't need any programs to access the folders, you wont have any issues with that.

3. Music you can play with iTunes, for videos I recommend VLC player, which you can find with a simple Google search.

That should answer your questions.

And as for software, most things are compatible for both, unless I'm given an option to download for PC or Mac, correct?

Most programs have either a Mac or PC version that you get. There doesn't tend to be one version of a given program that just works on both Macs and PCs, unless it's a Java application or something.

When I get the computer, then I'll look into it. And I can't be a Mac fan if I don't know anything about the system yet... phul.

& ...which apparently won't be till Thursday. :(

Shift+command+3, or you could use a nifty application called Grab that's already on your computer. You can take shots of the whole screen or only a selection, or a timed shot of your screen. Far more functional than print screen on a PC.

You sound like a cultist when you talk like that.

It may not have a timed shot function, but Print Screen could already do the two of those functions. Well, one and a half, to be exact. As far as I know, it can't take pictures of any part of the screen that it wants to, but it can focus on a particular window. In most cases, I don't see why anyone would want to do more than that, though.

Can Grab take pictures of more than one window at a time?

Okay, sure, good point. And who had it first?

That's what I fucking thought.

And yeah Marx, it can grab as much or any part of the screen as you want. You actually draw a box on the screen and it takes a screenshot of what's in that box.

I figured that, but what I wanted to know is if it was possible to have more than one box drawn out at the same time.

You draw one box encompassing both windows...

Wouldn't that just be two separate pictures?

Yes. I was thinking that it'd be a bit more convenient to take multiple pictures at a time rather than one at a time.

Now that I think about it, it'd be kinda nice if the user was able to take a big picture of whatever was on their screen, except choose not to allow certain things to appear within it.

Like take a picture in layers, and then you can turn off the layer to something so it shows what's behind it?
