Am I the only one who had sense enough to copy the link location and then add the part that didn't make it it into the hyperlink into the address bar?

I'm not gonna lie, I'm not into politics, so I didn't bother reading all that far into the article. Mind summarizing it for me?

"Corporate Funding of Candidates"

What more do you need to have summarized?

Basically, Marx, if this gets passed, corporations can spend as much as they'd like in funding a candidate's campaign with their business' money. Now, think about this--obviously, they'll be trying to elect a tool who'll try and just make corporations more rich. You might think that this doesn't make a difference, since we're still electing the president. But you have to consider the fact that we're talking about multi-billion dollar companies who can, if they'd like, pretty much buy out all the ad time they need to to slander the opposing candidates without them getting in a word edgewise. You know how people can be, too--they're stupid, they'll take everything at face value and believe everything they hear.

Corporations already control everything, so we may as well stop pretending like they don't. Hopefully this will continue to spiral out of control until we end up in a dystopian future where a select few companies have control over literally everything ala Shadowrun. Being a half-undead bounty hunter who can use magic and shape-shift while wielding dual machine guns has been a lifelong dream of mine.

Whenever you hear "In a 5-4 decision..." you know something shitty happened. We need to burn it all down and start over at this point.

It is my view that corporations and politics shouldn't be mixed, including funding. I feel it is needed to protect freedom of speech and prevent someone winning simply because their funding and, ultimately, expose is greater. Of course, MoA is right that corporations already have a huge influence anyway. I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make but I still think is a poor decision regardless.

Basically, companies can now go up to candidates and say "Hey, if you don't support us, we'll spend infinite money on smear campaigns and the like to make sure you don't get elected."

Tis exactly the reason they shouldn't be allowed near any political stuff.

And so begins a new chapter in human history. Long gone is the Age of Kings and Courts, now a new era rises. It is the Age of CEOs and Boardrooms, where Despotism hides behind a new mask.

You know what the sad thing is? If people weren't fucking morons in general and did research, corporations spending a shit ton of money to promote a candidate wouldn't matter all that much.
