Ōkamiden: Chīsaki Taiyō
Trailer for the game

It figures that the next Okami game would be on a Nintendo based system. I just wasn't expecting it to be on the DS. When you think about it, yeah, using the Celestial Brush with the stylus makes sense, but I'm more concerned about the game graphically: Okami was a beautiful game. I seriously doubt that it'll look nearly as nice on the DS. I don't get why Luke Plunkett, a Kotaku editor, would want a PS3 version of the game since I doubt the graphics would change that much due to it being cel-shaded and the controls for the first Okami seemed like they worked better on the Wii than the PS2 outside of the game not recognizing what you drew at times and attacking enemies normally (which I think required you to waggle the controller), although I can't honestly defend that claim since I've only played the Wii port. Assuming that I'm right about the controls, I think the Wii would've been the best system to put it on rather than the DS or PS3.

According to that article, the game is around 25% completed, so I don't think we'll be seeing it anytime soon.

As for the protagonist, Chibiterasu, and his abilities, he is adorable and whatnot and I'm liking that he is going to be retaining a lot of Amaterasu's abilities, although they're weaker (I really hope that this fact doesn't screw things up), and that he'll be able to "team up with other celestial animals", which I'm assuming are the same ones you ran into in the last game.

Actually, the PS2 version controlled quite a bit better overall, the PS2's analog stick worked better than the Wii's for some reason. Also, the PS2 version looked nicer graphically, which is to be expected since it's the base.

Overall, I think the game could look really good on the DS. You'd be surprised what the little thing's capable of. Also, the original didn't exactly push the PS2, it was all effects, kind of like Killer 7, so I could see it still getting a similar feel on the DS. Not as good, mind you, but I don't think it'll be an eyesore or anything.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm missing some all important truth in the world. At that point I usually grab some chips and watch the people who have apparently found it tear each other apart in the super market over the now last bag of chips...
