Like Muzzy said, the first MK is definitely the better of the two films. Neither are particularly stunning examples of cinematic competence, but the first movie is at least enjoyable for the fact that it's a campy martial arts melodrama with an emphasis on action and fun. Some of the fights are pretty cool from what I remember, too.
Also, I'm thinking this should probably be in General Entertainment, so I'm moving it.

yeah I know it died at it's third installment..and some argue that it died after it's second.
Series needs a reboot, and bad.

Midway announced on May 21, 2009 that Warner Bros. had bid $33 million for the assets of Midway Games, which includes their Chicago and Seattle studios, as well as the Mortal Kombat franchise. Midway announced on May 28, 2009 that it would "accept binding offers up to June 24th, 2009, to acquire some or all of the Company's assets. An auction will be held on June 29th to determine the bid or combination of bids that achieves the highest value, followed by a court hearing to approve the sale to the winning bidder or bidders on July 1st, and then a final closing.
It might be a while before the series get a reboot.

I use to watch the first movie all the time as a little kid(Seeing as I owned the first two games for the Genesis). I saw the second movie once, and even as a a small boy who didn't know shit from genius, I didn't like it much nor do I remember it being memorable in any way.
