Most of you guys already know what this topic is about. For those who don't, allow me to explain. This topic will contain special chapters that will tell of any major battles or events that happen within the main Shadow Gaiden storyline. Without further ado, here is the first one:

P.S.- Sorry for the delay. I had things to do last week so I couldn't finish it. Plus, when I was finished writing, I read it over and realized how long it was. Oh well.

Special Chapter 1: Robotnik's Final Defeat

After the battle with Enerjak, Shadow returned to Knothole to rest, but as fate would have it, Robotnik announced his master plan and struck fear into the hearts of many; to destroy all of the citizens of Mobius with the Ultimate Annihilator. However, Robotnik asked for the surrender of the royal Acorn family in exchange for the people's freedom and survival. Seeing this as a trap, Shadow and the others manages to convince Sally that she should remain in Knothole along with her family for safety. Afterwards, both Shadow and Sonic sped off to Robotropolis where the final battle will take place.

"Well, here we are!" said Sonic. "Robuttropolis. How do you think we should go about this Shadow?"

"Tear it apart, both inside and out."

"Sounds good to me.

"Shadow! Sonic!" yelled a distinct voice.

The two hedgehogs turned around and spotted Knuckles flying towards them.

"Hey Knucks! What brings you here?"

"I got a transmission from Sally saying that you guys were gonna take down Robotropolis all by yourselves. She wanted me to come along for you know, extra muscle."

"Oh yea? Are you sure she didn't send you here as a cheerleader?"

"Argh! You and your jokes Sonic."

"Yea, I know."

"So Shadow, got a solid plan for taking down Robotropolis?"

"Yea I do. Both you and Sonic will stay outside and destroy Robotropolis from here. As for me, I'll head inside and destroy the Ultimate Annihilator along with Robotnik."

"How come we can't get a fair share of beating down Robuttnik?"

"It's personal Sonic. I'm sure you understand."

"Yea alright. That plans works with me. What about you Knuckles?"

"As long as I can enjoy breaking apart those SWATbots, I won't care."

"Good. Alright then, let's do it to it."

Sonic and Knuckles runs into the premises of Robotropolis, setting off alarms, alerting SWATbots of their prescence. A survelliance camara catches the two beginning the attack.

"So... the little blue rodent and the red hothead would dare to attack my city. They both must have a death wish. Don't you agree Snively?"

"Yes sir."

"Good. Let us watch their pitiful attempt."

"Um... sir? Aren't you going to destroy the citizens of Mobius with the Ultimate Annihilator like you said you would? After all, the Freedom Fighters did refuse your demand."

"Oh but what fun will that be if everyone died? I must enertain myself and this is the only way I know I can enjoy myself."

"But-"

"Shut up Snively! I want Sonic and Knuckles to suffer and die slowly at the hands of my robots. They deserve it for the many times they have thwarted my plans."

"What of Shadow sir?"

"Hmm... Shadow. He too will be eliminated but in a more special way. Speaking of that rodent, where is he?"

"Well, he's not with Sonic and Knuckles, that's for sure."

"How odd. It's not like him to stay behind and allow Sonic and Knuckles to take the glory. He must be nearby. I'm sure of it."

After saying those words, an explosion was seen and heard on one of the monitors.

"Uh sir, it seems the hanger bay has been infiltrated."

"Say what? By whom?"

[Gulps] "By uh... Shadow sir."

"So he is here. How excellent. He must of used Sonic's and Knuckles' attack as a diversion to enter my base. Snively! Give our 'guest' a warm welcome."

"Yes sir."

Snively presses a button on the computer console. The scene shifts to Shadow in the hanger bay throwing chaos spears at Robotnik's ships. After destroying the last one, a small gate opened, revealing a platoon of SWATbots. They stood in formation and begun to fire lasers at Shadow.

"How pathetic."

Shadow rolled into a ball and spun dash towards the SWATbots. As he neared the bots, he jumped up and homed in on them, destroying them with his attack. The SWATbots desparately tried to shoot Shadow down but he was moving too fast. Shadow kept up his attack until every last bot of the platoon was destroyed. When Shadow ceased his attack, two more platoons approached him.

"I don't have time for this. Chaos Blast!"

Shadow destroys all of the SWATbots in one devastating blow. With the hanger bay completely trashed, Shadow skated off further into the base. The scene changes glacially as it moves from the camera view to the command room.

"ARGH! That hedgehog! He destroyed my SWATbot platoons within seconds. Snively! Activate the base's interior defenses. The rail guns will cut him to ribbons."

Switching back to Shadow, we see our hero skating on a long and narrow bridge. Upon reaching the midway point, the mounted rail guns on the walls opened fire. Shadow skated faster to avoid being hit but as it turned out, the bullets rained in from every direction, leaving no room for Shadow to evade them.

"Chaos Control!"

Reappearing on the other side of the bridge, Shadow again skated off to find the Ultimate Annihilator. But the rail guns spotted him and fired on him again. Now aware of where the rail guns were located, Shadow jumped to the walls and skated for the rail guns, taking them all out one by one. Once all of the rail guns were destroyed, Shadow landed back on the main platform and resumed his original mission. After skating through a long corridor and taking out more minscule defenses, Shadow found himself inside of a large room.

"Odd to have a room of this size completely empty. From what I can tell, there was probably something here. Something big. My guess is that the Ultimate Annihilator was here before, but now moved to a different part of the base."

"Right you are hedgehog. Indeed it has" said Robotnik over an intercom.

"Where is the device Robotnik? Where did you move it to?"

"Silly hedgehog. Do you really think that I would tell you where my greatest invention lie?"

"You will if you want live."

"Hahahaha! Those are some big words coming from such a small rodent."

"You're wasting my time. Tell me where it is now!"

"Wrong Shadow! You are the one wasting time! No matter how many times you ask me where the device is, I will never give you the answer.Why don't you come to the command room instead? I have a bit of a surprise in store."

A door in the room opened, revealing a dark passageway. Shadow skated inside and moments later he finds himself inside of the command center, completely empty. The door behind him shuts.

"Where are you Robotnik? Show yourself!"

"Hahahaha! Glad you could make it Shadow. Are you enjoying your stay here at my base so far?"

"I don't have time to waste with you. Come on out and fight me!"

"Hmph! Foolish rodent! First you attack my base then you command me? I should have you roboticized ten times over for your treason aganist me, your undisputed king!"

"Treason? King? You were never my king nor were you anybody else's! You are nothing but a power hungry tyrant that brought terror to all Mobians! You are no king!"

"How dare you! You pathetic and insolent little hedgehog! You have insulted me for the last time! Prepare to suffer a most painful death!"

A door opens at the upper level of the command center. Out came Robotnik, completley fitted with a suit of armor.

"Hehehe! Like it? It's my new battle armor. I designed it with you in mind."

"How touching. Don't make me gag."

"You don't get it do you? With this battle armor, I can easily bring you down with little effort."

"Really. Then let us see how well that armor of yours can withstand a Chaos attack. Chaos Spear!"

Shadow throws a single spear at Robotnik, hitting him dead on. Much to Shadow's dismay, Robotnik still stands.

"I probably should of mentioned earlier that this armor is made up of a special unnamed metal that can absorb energy of all kinds. So go ahead, throw as many as Chaos Spears as you can muster, it will only make me stronger."

"It may be able to absorb Chaos energy, but how well can it absorb my punches?"

Shadow jumped up towards Robotnik with his right fist at ready. Within distance, Shadow swung his fist across Robotnik's helmet but it would seem that the madman spoke true. Not feeling any pain, Robotnik simply grabbed Shadow by the stomach and tossed him back unto the ground.

"Stupid hedgehog! Do really want to die that quickly?"

Shadow stood back up and this time he punched Robotnik straight in the stomach with his left fist. Once again, Robotnik shrugs it off, grabs Shadow's wrist, and throws him across the room.

"It seems you didn't catch my memo when I said I could beat you with little effort. It doesn't matter how many punches or kicks you throw at me. The end result will always be the same."

"That armor may stand well aganist my current strength, but have you taken into consideration what would happen if I unleashed my hidden powers?"

"What hidden powers?"

"So it seems you don't know. Allow me to show you. Do you see these rings on my wrists? Well, turns out that they're inhibitors, made to hold back my true potential. Once removed, my Chaos powers will become greatly amplified."

"You're bluffing hedgehog."

"Am I? Perhaps a demonstration should be in order."

Shadow removes the rings from his wrists and soon enough, his entire body was covered in a Chaos energy aura.

"Behold! My full potential! Your armor now will shatter with a single blow. Chaos Rocket!"

Shadow dashes towards Robotnik at full speed, knocking him back into several walls. The last wall Robotnik goes through reveals a large and open room.

"How did that feel?"

"Never better."

Robotnik stands up with his armor still fully intact.

"What? Not even a dent?"

"Hahahaha! Come now Shadow, I'm a renowned genius. You didn't think I wouldn't come prepared did you? Of course I knew of your hidden powers."

"But how?"

"I know a lot about you Shadow. A lot more than you think."

"What do you mean?"

"I would tell you but there's no point. You will soon die anyways."

Robotnik presses a button on his right gauntlet, resulting in him hovering in the air.

"Now I do believe it's my turn to go on the offensive."

With his rocket thrusters at full power, Robotnik blasts forward at incredible speed. Shadow skates towards the tyrant in hopes to impede him but to no avail. Robotnik grabs Shadow by the face and slams him into a wall. He then tosses Shadow into the air and rocketed upwards, smashing Shadow into the ceiling, creating a large crater. Shadow yells in pain then faints from the impact.

"That's it? Done already? I expected more from you Shadow. Oh well. It was fun while it had lasted."

Robotnik releases his grip as Shadow begins to plummet. Robotnik looks on with glee as he sees Shadow falling to his doom. But halfway through the freefall, Shadow opens his eyes and grin.

"What?!"

"Chaos Control!"

Shadow dissappeared from Robotnik's sight who begins to look around the room franctically for the hedgehog.

"Where are you hedgehog? Don't hide from me!"

"Who said I was trying to hide?"

Robotnik traced Shadow's voice and spotted him to his right. Immediately looking in that direction, Shadow punches Robotnik right across the helmet and dissappears again. As Robotnik regains his senses, Shadow appeared again.

"Down here."

Looking down, Robotnik sees Shadow coming up qucikly. Once again, Shadow manages to land a direct hit on Robotnik, this time with an uppercut. Gaining the upper hand, Shadow goes for a roundhouse kick across the mad man's helmet. As Shadow tries to perform a reverse roundhouse, Robotnik grabs Shadow's foot.

"The same attack won't work twice."

Robotnik spins Shadow around then throws him to the ground. Robotnik then turns off his rocket thrusters, causing him to drop like a rock towards Shadow.

"After this impact, you will definetely stay down! Hahahaha!"

Shadow stands on his feet and looks up. Not shaken by ground shattering blow, Shadow begins to skate around in a circle. As Shadow skated faster and faster, a tornado began to form and rised towards Robotnik. Caught inside of the twister, Robotnik lost his balance and was blown away across to the opposite side of the room. Shadow ceases his attack.

"It appears we are at a stalemate Robotnik."

"Wrong hedgehog. This battle is slowly turning in my favor. You may think your attacks are doing damage, but all you really doing is taking bits and pieces off my armor, not significant enough for any real concern. So as we continue our fight, you will eventually use up all of your powers. Once that happens, I'll make my move."

"That may be, but that won't happen as long as I use up small portions at a time. By the time I have truly lost any amount of my strength, I would have already figure out how to crack that armor of yours in half."

"You underestimate me. My armor can withstand a direct cannon blast that has been powered by a Chaos Emerald. Someone as small as you can never break it, let alone even make a scratch."

"We'll soon see about that."

As Shadow prepares to attack, Robotnik pushes a button on his left gauntlet. From the middle of the room, the floor opened up, revealing a large, dark opening. From inside, a plaform could be heard coming up. Moments later, the plaform came all the way up. On top of it stood the Ultimate Annihilator.

"The Ultimate Annihilator!"

"A beauty isn't she? I figured I let you see it one time before you die. Consider this as your early parting gift."

"In your dreams Robotnik! Chaos-"

"Not this time rodent."

Robotnik thrusts his right arm forward as a small capsule was shot out of his gauntlet. As the capsule came closer to Shadow, it split apart at the center, showing off a green net that fully expanded. The net wrapped itself around the hedgehog.

"A net? You think this can hold me?"

Shadow tries to break free from the net's entanglement but struggled to do so.

"Chaos Blast!"

Nothing happened.

"What? My Chaos powers? They had no effect?"

"That's because that net is made up of an energy absorbing material, much like my armor. Not only that, but that material is also strong enough to resist being pulled apart by outside forces. Face it, your strength is at its limit."

Shadow looked on with anger in his face. But then Shadow looked at the Ultimate Annihilator and closed his eyes.

"You're right about one thing. I may not be able to free myself now with my current strength but you made one fatal mistake. You involved Sally in your doomsday plan. And when you or anyone else involve her-"

Shadow begins to levitate off from the ground. Suddenly, he opens his eyes and rips apart the net with ease.

"MY STRENGTH HAS NO LIMITS!!!"

Robotnik looked on with sweat on his face. Shadow charges towards Robotnik at full speed. Trying to stop Shadow, Robotnik put out his hands in front of him. As Shadow came closer, the two locked palms but because Shadow came at a great speed, he manages to push Robotnik back a few feet. His gauntlets begin to crack apart.

"No! This is impossible! How can you have this much power?"

"Because... because I am CHAOS INCARNATE!!!"

As Robotnik looks at Shadow with fear, he sees that the annoying hedgehog that he knew was no longer there. Instead, a demon of endless power can be seen through Shadow's eyes.

"What's with that look Robotnik? Are you afraid of me?"

"Me... afraid... never!"

"Oh, but I think you are."

As Robotnik struggled to overcome Shadow, his entire armor begins to break down. Robotnik soon found himself on one knee, trying to come in par with Shadow's strength.

"I bet you weren't prepared for this!"

With overwhelming power, Shadow bends Robotnik's wrists backwards.

"AAAAAHHHH!"

"Feel the pain now? That's the kind of pain that you have been causing all of Mobius. But you have been causing the same pain for quite some years now. So you know what that means don't you?"

"No! No! Please! Have mercy!"

"Mercy? Like the mercy you have been giving Mobians? I guess that means I'll give you none."

Having no care for Robotnik's life at this point, Shadow overwhelms the tyrant with his strength and forces his arms to be pushed back.

"I admit. I'm impressed that you are still holding me back from completely breaking your arms. That armor is fascinating. Too bad it won't be able to sustain itself much longer."

The intensity energy being given off by Shadow affected the Ultimate Annihilator in a way that it began to overload itself, soon to explode.

At this point, Sonic and Knuckles arrived on the scene.

"Shadow!"

"Sonic! Knuckles! You two need to get out of here now!"

"Not without you Shadow! You're comin with."

"Don't think so Sonic. As long as Robotnik here is still alive, I have to stay and make sure he dies."

"What will Sally think? She won't accept the fact that you died a horrid death."

"Just tell her I died for the people. Also Sonic, tell her that I love her. Now go!"

"But-"

"Let's go Sonic! We stay here any longer and we'll be toast. I trust that whatever Shadow is doing, it will be for the best."

Without saying anything, Sonic ran out of the room with Knuckles close behind. The two ran out of the base with all haste. The two never looked back.

"It's just you and me now Robotnik. Any last words?"

"I rather go to hell than die with you."

"Couldn't have worded it any better myself."

With the two still hand locked, the Ultimate Annihilator goes off, letting off an explosion that engulfs the two. Within seconds, all of Robotropolis was destroyed from the explosion. Sonic and Knuckles looked on from the outskirts of the city.

"Looks like Robotnik's so called plan for the destruction for all of Mobius was a ruse" said Knuckles.

"Guess so. The Ultimate Annihilator must have been developed as a countermeasure just in case Shadow mananged to beat him in battle."

"To think, even till the very end, Robotnik still setted us up and played us for fools."

"Guess he wanted to die and be remembered as Mobius' greatest genius. Him and his ego."

The smoke receded and nothing but debris was seen. The city of Robotropolis was no more. The two continued to look on. Without them knowing, Snively walks to an edge of a cliff and looks at the rubble with a smile on his face.

"A beautiful sight isn't it?"

An enraged Knuckles flew to him and punched him aross the face.

"How dare you! Shadow's dead and you're here calling all of this a beautiful sight? Maybe I'll add you to the scenery. We'll see how beautiful it'll really get."

"Knuckles! Leave Snively alone! He had nothing to do with this."

"I beg to differ Sonic."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"I was the one who reprogrammed the Ultimate Annihilator in order to ensure Robotnik's death."

"And Shadow's" yelled Knuckles furiously.

"Calm down echidna. You may be happy to know that Shadow is alive and well."

"You lie!"

"If you don't believe me, why don't you go ahead and check the white void there."

Sonic looked over to the rubble and indeed he saw a small void where the Ultimate Annihilator once stood. He ran over to the void. Knuckles followed. As the two came closer, they stared at the void for what would seem like hours. Soon enough, a hand came out from the void. Sonic quickly grabbed the hand and pulled on it, freeing Shadow. After all of Shadow was freed from the void, it closes. Shadow is seen laying on the ground.

"Shadow! You alright bro?"

"Aside from the fact that I nearly died from the explosion, yea I'm fine."

Sonic and Knuckles begin to laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothin. It's just that we never seen you so beaten up."

"Arrr! Shut up!"

The two continue to laugh at not only from Shadow's condition, but also from the fact that their friend is alive and well. Back at the cliff's edge, Snively looks at the trio for a few seconds and walks into the shadows, not to be seen again.

It was dark now and everyone seems to be asleep at Knothole. Everyone except for Sally. In her night gown, Sally looks through the open window of her home, looking up at the stars. While doing so, her mother walks up to her room.

"Still awake dear?"

"I can't sleep mother, not while knowing Shadow is still out there."

"Oh honey, I'm sure he's fine."

"Yes, I know."

"Then surely you can sleep knowing that can't you?"

"I could but it's just that I want to see him here, safe and sound."

"Funny you should say that darling."

"Why's that mother?"

"You may want to go and check out the infirmary."

Sally immediately got off from her bed, ran downstairs, opened the door, and ran for Freedom HQ. Once inside of the infirmary, she sees Shadow lying on the bed, still fully awake.

"Hey there princess. I see that you're still awake."

"I was waiting for you."

"Well, I'm here now. Go to bed."

"Don't you want your midnight kiss?"

"It won't be much of one in my current state."

"Then I guess I'll give you one on the cheek."

Sally walks over to Shadow and kisses him on the cheek.

"Night Shadow."

"Night."

Sally walks towards the door and looks back. As Sally looks on at her man who now had just fallen asleep, she turns off the lights and walks out as the door closes behind her.

Special Chapter 2: Unexpected and Untimely Leave

With the official defeat of Robotnik, one can only imagine the beautiful and peaceful scenery that is brought by the morning sun today here in Knothole. Birds are singing, a cool breeze is whisping through the air, and of course, everyone are on their beds, happily sleeping away the morning in knowledge that they don't have to worry about an attack on the citizens. The only thing that could disrupt such a morning would be something that no one expected.

"BUNNIE! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? GET AWAY FROM ME!"

"Calm down sugah-hog. Ah'm just tryin to bandage your wounds."

"No. You know what you can just do? You can just take a few steps back."

"It won't take long."

"I don't care. My body can heal on its own."

"Oh... Ah know what this is all about. Don't worry sugah. Ah won't touch any of your sensitive parts. I'll leave those spots for your girl."

"May I remind you that I no longer have my inhibitor rings on me. So that means don't push me."

"Oh Shadow. You need to learn how to talk better to girls."

Sonic walks in with a big yawn.

"What are you whining about Shadow?"

"Whining? We'll see who'll be whining after I'm through with you."

"Whoa, hold on there Shadow! No need for that pal. Just messin. Seriously though, what are you so uptight about?"

"Shadow here won't let me bandage him up."

"What's wrong with that Shadow?"

"I rather heal on my own."

"Hmm...nope. I know what it is. You're worried that Bunnie will touch your sensitive parts aren't you?"

"Sonic, if you don't shut up, I will personally see to it that you can no longer run on your feet."

"That's if you can catch me first."

"That's it!"

In a fit of rage, Shadow skates after Sonic. The chase, however, was cut short by Sally's arrival.

"I see that you're feeling well now Shadow."

"I'll feel better after I beat up Sonic."

"Oh Shadow. You two are always fighting. Just leave him be."

Sally wraps her arm around Shadow's and walks him back to the infirmary.

"Now just relax sweetie."

Shadow sat back down on the bed as King Maximillian Acorn walks in.

"Ah Shadow! Glad to see your awake!"

"Morning your majesty."

"Mornin' your highness."

"Hello father."

"Yes. Morning to you all. Now Shadow, because of your victory over Robotnik, I would just like to tell you that today there will be a huge celebration in your honor."

"A large party? Thanks but no thanks your majesty."

"But Shadow, I will have to make the announcement that Robotnik is finally dead. The citizens of Mobius would want to celebrate."

"Fine. As long as I don't have to do much."

"Very well Shadow. Sally, would you mind helping me set up the party?"

"Of course father."

The two walk out of the room.

"What's the matter sugah-hog? You don't look happy. Is it about the party? It won't be that bad."

"No Bunnie. It's not that. I just feel that today is not a day for celebration."

Hours pass and one can already see that tables have been set up and crowds of Mobians have gathered. Within the crowd stood a nervous Mina the Mongoose. Sonic walks up to her.

"Hey there Mina! What's up?"

"Oh Sonic! Not much. Just nervous."

"What's there to be nervous about?"

"Well, King Maximillian has just asked to me to sing for the celebration."

"That's great!"

"Yes I know but I'm scared. There are so many people here."

"Hey, you have a great voice. Don't sweat it. When the time comes, just stand up there and do what you do best."

"Thanks Sonic."

"No prob."

Sonic gives a thumb-up and smiles. At the food table, Saffron, Vector, and Charmy are seen staring at the dishes.

"Man, those look so good" said Vector.

"Yea they do. Let's grab one" said Charmy.

"Now hold on there Charmy" said Saffron as she grabbed Charmy's hand. "We have to wait like everyone else."

"Oh come on. Just one bite."

"No honey."

"Okay dear."

Saffron looked over to Vector and saw that the crocodile have already stuffed food in his mouth with more in his arms.

"VECTOR!"

"What? I'm hungry."

"That is no excuse for taking food when you are not supposed to."

"But Saffron, you understand. I always eat. How did you think I've become so big and strong?"

"I always thought it was your ego that made you that way" said Espio as he approached them.

"Haha! Very funny Espio."

The scene shifts again, this time to the infirmary. Shadow is currently laying on the bed with his right arm on his forehead and his left on his chest. Sally walks in.

"Shadow, my father is about to make the announcement."

"I'll wait until he calls my name."

"Why are you so down?"

"Just thinking about something that's wrapped in my mind."

"What is it?"

"It's what Robotnik said to me. He said that he knew me more than I could have thought."

"What does he mean?"

"That's what troubles me."

"I'm sure you'll figure it out soon. I'll be here if you need me. Anyways, here, a cleaning crew at the Robotropolis site found these."

Sally hands over the inhibitor rings to Shadow who clicks them back into place while still lying down.

"Thanks."

The scene now shifts to a podium that stands in the center of the village. King Max approaches the pedestal and clears his throat. Everyone falls silent.

"Thank you all for coming. As all of you may know, today is the day we celebrate. Celebrate the defeat of Robotnik!"

The crowd claps.

"For many years that madman has terrorized us and forced us to serve him under his cruel will. But because of the heroics of a certain Freedom Fighter, we no longer have to worry about him ever again. But who is this Freedom Fighter some of you may ask? Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you Mobius' hero, Shadow the hedgehog."

Hearing his name, Shadow gets up from the bed and walks outside to the village. Everyone looks over and begins to clap and cheer for him. Shadow, however, does not smile. He walks up to the next to the podium and King Max shakes his hand.

"Why Shadow, you don't seem happy."

"I am. For them, not for me."

"Hmm... Sally."

Sally walks to up to Shadow with a medal clutched in her hand.

"Shadow, with this medal, all the citizens of Mobius and the royal Acorn monarch will like to thank you with all our hearts for being our savior."

"My, is that real gold?" yelled out a distinct voice.

From within the crowd, a female bat flew towards the podium and looks at the medal closely.

"Wow. This is like 30 karots or more. Mind if I have it handsome?" asked the bat as she looked at Shadow while she swiped the medal from Sally.

"Excuse me, but who do think you are?"

"Me? Why, I'm Rouge the bat honey."

"Well, Rouge, yor are being rude in front of everyone. You just interrupted an important honor ceremony."

"Did I? I'm sorry. It's just that when I see gold or other jewelry, I get excited and just can't control myself."

"Then I suggest you work on that. May I please have back the medal?"

"Aww, but can't I have it? Surely one of nobility such as yourself can conjure up another one easily."

"You have until the count of three to-"

"What are you doing here?" asked Shadow as he interrupted Sally.

"I'm here on a mission."

"To steal from others?"

"Not quite handsome."

Rouge throws the medal back to Sally.

"More like on a recruiting assignment."

"Recruiting? For what purpose? Robotnik is dead."

"It's for something far more bigger."

"Who are you looking for?"

"You."

Shadow gives a surprised look as Sally looks on with distraught.

"Who would need Shadow?"

"GUN."

"What would GUN want with me?"

"They need you for interdimensional missions. Your Chaos abilities will prove to be of immense aid."

"Sorry. Tell them that they're going to have to find another person as their agent."

"Ok. I guess that means you don't want to know about your true past then."

"Did you just say, my true past?"

"That's right."

"This could be what Robotnik was talking about" thought Shadow. "Fine. I'll be more than happy to join you guys."

"But Shadow. Can't you find out about your true past by staying with us? Can't you think this over first?"

"No Sally I can't. Something inside of me tells me that by becoming an agent of GUN's, I may be able to answer the question going on inside of my mind."

Shadow turns to face King Max.

"I'm sorry to cut the ceremony short but you understand that this is more important than the celebration."

"Yes Shadow. I understand."

"Shadow, if you leave the Freedom Fighters permanently, you know what that means don't you?"

"Yes I do. It was great spending time with you Sally but all great times must come to an end. Good-bye."

With those words said, Shadow and Rouge walks away from the podium and away from the crowd. Rouge pulls out a warp ring and throws it to bring up a portal.

"Trust me Shadow, G.U.N. is where you belong. You'll like it there."

Sally looked on with tears in her eyes as the two walk through the portal. When the portal closes, Sally closes her eyes with the medal's ribbon still clutched tightly in her hand.

Special Chapter 3: The Beginning of a New Quest

It is another quiet and peaceful morning in Knothole. However, it is a shame that it cannot be considered a happy one. Sally lies on her bed with a frown on her face. After letting out a sigh, she gets up from bed and walks over to the drawer. On top stood a picture frame with a picture of her and Shadow in it. She picks it up and hugs it tight aganist her chest.

"Oh Shadow. Why?"

Sally looks on at the picture until a knock came upon her door. She puts the frame back down and walked downstairs. She opens the door and there stood Bunnie.

"Mornin' Sally girl. How's about some hair groomin?"

"Come in."

The two walk upstairs and Bunnie began to groom the princess's hair.

"What's with the long face Sally girl?"

Sally again looks over at the picture.

"Oh yea. That's right. Sorry Ah asked. Ah should have known."

"It's okay Bunnie."

A few minutes passed in silence. Bunnie puts down the brush.

"Thanks Bunnie."

The two walk downstairs. A holographic projection of NICOLE appears before them.

"Morning Sally."

"Hey NICOLE."

"Still upset over Shadow's departure?"

"Yes."

"Don't worry Sally. Shadow still loves you, even if he has left us."

"If he really loved me, the thought of him leaving would never have crossed his mind."

Someone knocks on the door. Bunnie goes to open it.

"Morning everyone."

"Hey there Rotor. What's up?" asked Bunnie.

"I've got some news."

"Good or bad?"

"There's no good or bad Bunnie. It's the thinking that makes it so."

"Tell it anyways."

"Right. But it'll be best if I shared it with everybody. Meet me at Freedom HQ."

Rotor runs off as Bunnie closes the door.

"Wonder what's up?"

"Only one way to find out" said Sally.

The scene shifts to the command center at Freedom HQ. All of the Freedom Fighters are seen standing around Rotor. The walrus clears his throat.

"Let me first ask you guys a question. How many here knows who Monkey Khan is?"

"Monkey Khan?! Isn't that the Mobian who got subjected to Robotnik's cybernetic experiment but then was sealed inside of a crate because he resisted his control?" asked Sally.

"Exactly."

"Ok so what's the big deal?" asked Sonic.

"Well, the crate that Monkey Khan was locked inside of was recently discovered and brought to Prison Island."

"Prison Island?! That's one of the most secured human military prison out there" said Sonic. "Not to mention that's it's run by GUN."

"Makes sense then for this someone to bring Khan there" said Sally. "The question is, why?"

"Beats me" replied Rotor. I do, however, know where he is being held inside the base."

"Great. Tell me" said Sally.

"Whoa! Hold on there Sal! What's the hurry?"

"Because Khan will prove to be a powerful ally."

"Aganist who? Robotnik's defeated and there is no one else out there that proves to be a threat."

"It's for percautionary purposes Sonic. Just because there is no one now that is a threat doesn't mean that there won't be one later. Now Rotor, do you have the schematics of the base?"

"Yep."

"Good." [She hands Rotor the handheld computer] Let NICOLE download it. I'm gonna need it to save Monkey Khan."

"Wait a Mobius minute Sal! Did you just say I?

"That's right. I'm going on this mission alone."

"Out of the question."

"Too bad Sonic. As commander, my decision stands."

"Sorry to break it to ya Sally but GUN's got that place in total lockdown. You won't be able to get in."

"But my father is close friends with their president."

"It won't matter. Without proper ID, you won't be granted access."

"You mean to tell me that my status as royalty won't be accepted?"

"Afraid so."

"Fine. Guess I'll just have to start at the source."

"The source?"

"Yea. I'll go see their President and ask for his permission."

"I guess that might work."

"What do you mean you guess?"

"Well, you see, the new President is not the friendly type. He only cares for his people. Other beings are treated like outsiders. In other words, he may not be inclined to let you in."

"Guess I'll just have to try to convince him then. Sonic, you will take charge in my absence."

"No worries Sal."

Rotor walks up to Sally and hand over NICOLE to her.

"The blueprints have been successfully downlaoded into NICOLE. You should have no trouble navigating the base, taking in the possibility that you manage to get in of course."

"Thanks Rotor."

Sally walks to the door and turns back around.

"I'll return soon. In the meantime, stay out of trouble everyone."

"Same to ya Sal."

"Good luck Sally girl."

"Thanks Bunnie."

Sally smiles and walks out the door. After she clips NICOLE to her boot, Sally takes her first step into her quest to free a fellow Mobian.

Special Chapter 4: Royal Pains

"I never knew trying to get to Station Square would be so tiring" said Sally.

"Perhaps you should have brought Sonic along with you. He could have gotten you there much sooner."

"I know NICOLE. It's just that this mission is personal."

"Personal? How so Sally?"

"I don't know. I'm still trying to figure that out."

Sally continues to walk further into the thickness of the jungle. She stops momentarily to rest her legs.

"The jungle is so thick. I can't tell if it's day or night right now."

"I predict that it is nighttime Sally. We have been navigating through this jungle for quite some time."

"Yeah, you're probably right. We should find shelter and rest until the sun comes up."

"But where will we be able to find shelter in the midst of the jungle?"

"I was hoping you would tell me yourself."

"Allow me to scan the surrounding area."

"No need. I can help" said a distinct voice.

"Who's there?" asked Sally.

"Who else can it be love?"

From behind a tree came a figure approaching Sally.

"Geoffrey! What are you doing here?"

"To watch out for ya. I overheard in Freedom HQ that you are on a mission to rescue a Mobian."

"That's right. Since you heard that much, you probably know that I wish to go alone then."

"Not an option princess."

"Don't make me say it twice."

"You don't have much of a choice. You won't be able to go to your father. He doesn't even know you're out here does he?"

"Who ever said I had to go to my father?"

"So what then? You're gonna call on the other Freedom Fighters?"

"Maybe."

"Sally look. I know you want to do this alone but just allow me to get you to Station Square. Afer that, I'll head back."

"Fine. I suppose there's no harm in you coming along. Anyways, you know where we can sleep safely at night?"

"Follow me love."

Sally goes and follows behind Geoffrey to wherever he was leading here. Minutes later, they arrive at an opening in the jungle.

"Umm... Geoffrey. There's nothing here."

"That's because it's all underground."

Geoffrey pulls a remote from his belt and pushes the button. Metal double doors that were on the ground began to open, revealing an underground corridor.

"An underground base?!"

"That's right Sally. This base is just one of many that the Royal Secret Service has."

"Impressive."

"I knew you would be. Come on."

The two make thier way down into the corridor. Upon reaching the end, Geoffrey again pushes the button to shut the doors.

"Here. You can sleep in this room. It's the cleanest one."

"Thank you Geoffrey."

"Good night Sally."

"Good night."

Sally closes the door and walks over to the bed. She puts NICOLE on the table next to the bed, lays down, puts the blanket over her, and shuts her eyes.

The next morning as Sally wakes up, she hears some noise outside the door. She grabs NICOLE, clips her on, and opens the door. She sees Geoffrey standing in the middle of the room in front of a table putting on some gear.

"What are you doing?"

"Ah Sally, you're up. I'm just putting on some equipment in case we encounter any dangers."

"I see."

"Well I'm done. You ready?"

"Yes."

"Good. Let's get moving."

The next scene shows Geoffrey and Sally walking through a trail.

"You know what I find odd love?"

"What?"

"The fact that you're the one going on the mission. I would have thought that this would be Shadow's job."

"Are you trying to imply that I'm not capable of doing this?"

"Of course not. It's just not like him to have someone do what he would normally do."

"The reason is because Shadow is no longer a member of the Freedom Fighters."

"Really? What happened?"

"He left to join G.U.N."

"Is that right? I never took Shadow to be someone to join the rank of humans."

"Trust me. It surprised everyone."

"I bet it did. Well, we're here."

The two walk to the end of the trail and found themselves staring at a volcano in the distance.

"For a second there I thought you meant near Station Square."

"It's fine love. We just need to walk a couple more miles."

"We? No. I think I can handle it from here."

"That's the problem princess. You think you can. You gotta know. Unless you do, I'm still going with you."

"Listen Geoffrey. I appreciate your help up until this point but now I feel I have to go on by myself."

"You do realize that I can radio in Knothole and tell your father that you left without his consent thus forcing me to bring you back right?"

"You wouldn't dare!"

"Don't try me."

"Awww... Look at the the two lovebirds bickering. How sweet!"

"Who said that? Who's there?"

"Geoffrey! Strange. I could have sworn you were Shadow. It must be from the fact that the two of you stink must of got my brain all mixed up."

"Enough! I'll ask once more, who are you?"

"It's me, Nack the Weasel."

Nack approached Sally and Geoffrey in a flying motorcycle.

"Great" said Sally. "Another nuisance."

Special Chapter 5: The Devious Act

“Get behind me love. I’ll protect you.”

“Aw how noble. Just one problem. You’re not Shadow" said Nack.

“What’s that suppose to mean.”

“I’ll wipe the floor with you.”

Nack presses a button on the motorcycle’s control panel, revealing two cannons at the sides of the bike. Nack locks on at Geoffrey and opens fire. With his quick thinking, Geoffrey manages to grab Sally and dodge the cannon blasts. The two take cover behind a large tree several feet away.

“Stay here. I’ll take care of this nobody.”

Geoffrey runs out from the tree and makes his way towards Nack. The weasel, however, sees this and opens fire again. Geoffrey leaps forward and rolls out of the blasts. The agent gets back on his feet and resumes his advance.

“Just die already skunk!”

Furious, Nack began to fire at a faster rate in hopes that Geoffrey will get hit. Fortunately, Geoffrey’s previous training regimen has made him more agile than before. After several blasts, Geoffrey takes cover behind tree nearby and pulls out a grenade. Once Nack stopped shooting, the agent seized the opportunity to make his move. Geoffrey pulled the pin, jumped from his cover, and threw the grenade precisely into one of the cannon’s barrel. The resulting explosion caused the motorcycle to violently shake, throwing Nack off balance. Luckily for him, his right hand gripped the handlebar tightly.

“Not so tough now are you weasel?”

“You’re not just gonna stand there and watch me struggle are you?”

“Of course. The position you’re in now suits you well haha!”

“Not funny skunk! Help me! Please! If you do, I promise I won’t be a troublemaker anymore.”

“Nice try.”

“Geoffrey, just help him” said Sally as she approached him.

“But love, if I do, he’ll attack us again.”

“I realize that but you can’t just let him die. It’s not in your nature.”

“Fine. I’ll help him but only because you told me to.”

Geoffrey slowly made his way towards the motorcycle. Once he came close, he jumped on top of it and extended his right arm.

“Grab hold.”

Nack swung his left arm up and grabbed Geoffrey’s. As he tried to pull him up, Nack gave a small grin. With all of his strength, he pulled on Geoffrey’s arm, causing the skunk to lose his footing. Thankfully, Geoffrey had quick reflexes for he grabbed onto Nack’s leg. Struggling to pull himself up, Nack uses his other leg to try to kick Geoffrey off but the agent held on tightly. Now desperate, Nack grabs his revolver from its holster and pointed it at him.

“Nack no! Stop! Don’t do it!” yelled Sally.

“Not a chance princess. I’m not about to let myself be dragged down by this scum.”

Without hesitation, Nack pulls the trigger. But to both Sally’s and Nack’s utter shock and surprise, Geoffrey dodged the bullet, leaving only a bloody streak on his right cheek.

“Argh! So what? You managed to dodge one bullet. Let’s see how well you can dodge this instead.”

Nack spun his revolver around making him hold onto the barrel. Then with a swing of his arm, Nack smacks Geoffrey across the face with the butt of his gun.

“Sorry Nack. It’s gonna take a lot more than one whip from your gun to have me let go.”

“Then let’s see how many it does take.”

Nack smacks Geoffrey a second time but he still gripped on Nack’s leg. Even after the third and fourth whips did Geoffrey still held firm. But after the fifth whip, Geoffrey began to loosen his grip. Realizing that he can’t take much more, Nack kicks Geoffrey once again and this time, he is successful in kicking the agent off. Geoffrey begins to fall towards the jungle below.

“NOOOOOO!” screamed Sally.

Sally runs over to the hill’s edge and watches in horror as the unconscious Geoffrey plummets to the bottom. Nack pulls himself up, sat down, and looked down.

“About time.”

He looked back at Sally.

“Now Sally, be a good little princess and hop on.”

Sally looks at Nack with tears in her eyes.

“How could you?”

“Ain’t it obvious? I’m the bad guy. Last I checked, we bad guys are suppose to get rid of the good guys. Now hurry up and get on my bike. I don’t have all day.”

Sally stands up and wipes the tears from her face.

“I refuse.”

“Very well then. Guess I have no choice but to do this the hard way.”

Nack revs up his motorcycle and flew towards Sally. She tried to run away but Nack was too fast. He whipped Sally on the back of her head with his revolver, knocking her out. He brought her over his shoulder and flew off in the direction he came from.
