Ever since I was given a leadership role in this section I have tried to keep characters and their abilities balanced. However, the old system allowed for characters that seemed min-maxed somehow. So, the new ability system is linked to three simple things; a character's Theme words.

Each character has 3 Theme Words that help to describe them. For each word, a character can take on two abilities or items that relate to that word. Ex: If a character has the theme word of “Swordsman”, they may wield a sword and have knowledge or an ability that relates to swordplay or their sword specifically.

Keep in mind that abilities take priority over rules which is why we have two people here that must approve characters before they are allowed to be used in an RP. All I ask is that players try to keep there character abilities balanced and have their theme words actually relate to their character's personality, physiology or back story.

Also, in the case of a character dual wielding something (like swords or pistols) each item he/she takes counts as separate. If you want to use two pistols and have taken a word like "Gunner" so you can, then those two pistols counts as both your items/abilities for that word. Now, if you want to skills that relate to using two pistols, you could take a word like "Marksman" or " Shooter" and give yourself those abilities, but keep in mind that the abilities must relate to the word.

Lastly, no hyphenating and calling it one word. It's cheap and I'll tell you to rewrite it. Find an online thesaurus.

ABILITY GUIDELINES PART 2

Because of people trying to get super moves for no real cost, I'm just saying this right now: Special moves/attacks have a cost of some kind. It can take extra turns, deal damage to the character using it, whatever. I'll let you choose. Also, if the ability is meant to deal extra damage, specify if it's supposed to deal a serious or critical injury.

Seriously, try to keep your character balanced. Unbalanced characters lead to a lot of problems down the road. If you're character looks overpowered, give them a weakness or make their abilities cost more.
