They are remastering/remaking Dragonball Z using current technology. They will be removing all filler episodes to make the series last 100 episodes.

So, by all of the filler, I'm guessing this includes making the fights much shorter? I'm okay with that, but I actually liked the Garlic Jr. Saga, so seeing that go away kinda makes me sad.

Also, 100 episodes seems too short. Filler parts or not, I don't think that every saga can be fit in that tiny amount... Hell, DB was shorter than DBZ by 10 volumes and it got 153 episodes, so I don't see how DBZ can only last 100. Granted, some of those 153 episodes were filler and some of the episodes that weren't had some filler material in them, but I don't think DB had so much filler content that it would reduce the number of episodes to below 100.

You know, thinking about it now, I wonder if the five minutes until Namek blows will actually be five minutes this time around.

Fillers are everything not related to the main story. For example, the episode where Goku and Piccolo went for their driver's licenses was a filler.

I know exactly what a filler is. From what the fans are saying, the fights were significantly shorter in the manga. According to them, the fights seemed like they were just drawn out so the anime wouldn't catch up the the manga. If this is true, the lengthening of the fight scenes (like the part where Goku was slammed into lava when Namek was about to blow and Gohan fought Frieza afterwards or how the fight dragged on for multiple episodes) can also be considered filler, in my opinion.

Edit: Yeah, I fucked up on a name and had to add it in so the post would make sense.

I don't think the fights themselves will be shorter, as they are all just being remastered, and some will be completely redone. The fights in the manga are shorter because it's all stills on paper. Animated fights are always longer.

I think he means shit like the fact that the ACTUAL fight with Goku and Freezer did, indeed, last 5 minutes as he predicted. Not 10+ episodes.

I read the manga, and there definitely was added animation in its T.V. adaption.

I wouldn't mind a DBZ with some shorter fights. I mean, a lot of the series is fights and waiting, so they can't be too short. Still... a bit shorter would be cool.

I hope they edit out the "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!" that appears every ten seconds. That right there is the number one reason I prefer DB than DBZ.

I've noticed them fighting extremely fast for absurd amounts of time way more than they have done that screaming thing.

I would like to know why everyone loves to over exaggerate how long it takes the characters to gather up energy to either increase the power of their physical attacks or to fire a really powerful ki shot and how often it happens.

Yet another reason why I prefer DB. It makes more sense for them to gather energy since the characters aren't used to it yet. By DBZ though you would think they could just shoot out energy whenever they want to by how much they spam energy attacks THAT DO NO FUCKING DAMAGE!
