Are you saving your images as .bmp's? Those don't work on the site since the mods banned them (they take up too much memory). Try a different format.

Hey Sherry!! You came back outta nowhere too? :D

Adding to KJ's comment, my pictures are all in the PNG and JPG format and they never have a problem posting on here. If the image program you're saving them through can save them as a .png file it would help.

The one at the very top is adorable.

Im assuming the other unfinished pics are works in progress...?

Also, have you tried using the Brush tool yet? I like how smooth the outlines are from the Brush tool instead of the Pencil tool.

An example of an outline I made with the Brush tool:

Notice how the lines aren't jagged and coarse? I think you should give it a try!

Thanks!

And no, the unfinished ones are not unfinished ones. They're bases I made. That's so coool-lookin!

What program is that used with? Because I can just simply never get my lines looking like that!

I use Photoshop CS4, but im certain GIMP has the same basic art tools. I use the "Pen" tool, which takes a little more time and effort than sketching to get juuust right, but the end result is well worth it. I haven't used GIMP in ages, but im sure it has a tool thats similar. Its where you click once to create an "anchor point" on the canvas, and the next click you make on the page makes another point. It creates an A to B kind of line, the path of which can then be painted with whatever tool you wish. (By right-clicking and selecting through a series of small windows of selection) On the second click, if you hold the mouse button and move the mouse around, you can make curved lines that are far neater than any human hand can draw.

I am certain without a doubt that Youtube has video tutorials on GIMP, Photoshop, and probably any image software. Youtube is where I learned to make many of my favorite visual effects, like fire, lightning, and rain.

Heres a pic of Onyx I have only shown to about 1-2 people, its the first one in which I experimented with my rain and lightning techniques:

Whats wrong, did you not find anything for GIMP on Youtube?

Another thing, I forget... do you actually draw pencil/paper sketches? If you had a scan of one of your pics that you really wanted a nice outline for, id be happy to do the outline for it. :D

Im always looking for new ways to practice mah Photoshoppin' skills, so it wouldnt be any trouble~

Oh, I haven't looked yet, but I will.

Yeah, I still sketch a little but not as much. But I'd certainly love to scan, but the scanner doesn't work. That'd be awesome if you could really outline em' for me!

Ah, I see what tool you're talkin about...but it's so hard to use! I'm not use to it yet. I guess practice makes perfect....

Indeed. That tool is perfect for making perfectly straight or curved lines. If you ever get to where you can scan again, another method I find most helpful is to scan a sketch of something, then "trace" it with the Pen/Line tool so it ends up perfectly straight and uniform. Thats how I used to do my outlines till I got really good with the Pen tool. I still do it, actually, because I am still better and faster at drawing characters from scratch by hand than on Photoshop.

COME ON! LIVEN THIS PLACE UP WITH MORE ART! Dont let MY pitiful works be the highlight of YOUR thread! D:
