Theme Words
First: Fire
Spark: Pyre can create a ball of fire in his hands at will. It dissipates the post after it was formed.
Fiery Blast: Pyre can only use this ability if he holding a source of fire. He can throw the flames in any direction he chooses and deal a serious injury to anyone hit by the blast. Using this ability counts as taking two actions.

Second: Heat
Superheat: Pyre can heat any object he lays his hands on to very high degrees, burning anyone else that touches them. Depending on how long he had his hands on the object changes how long it stays heated and what kind of damage it does.
For one action: It stays heated until Pyre's next post and deals a light injury to anyone that touches it.
Two actions: It stays heated until Pyre has taken two more posts and deals a light injury to anyone that touches it.
Three actions: It stays heated until Pyre has taken two more posts and deals a serious injury to anyone that touches it.
Absorb heat: Pyre can absorb an incredible amount of heat before taking any actual damage from it, making it so any damage dealt by fire or other sources of extreme heat deal a serious injury if they were to deal a critical, a light injury instead of a serious one and instead of taking light injuries from heat, he takes no damage at all, though he still must take an action to acknowledge the hit.

Third: Literature
Well Read: Pyre loves to read and because of this, has a lot of general knowledge about history, theater, poetry, religion, folklore, basically anything you can write a book other than a textbook about.
Writer: Pyre is an upstart writer. Most of what he does is poetry, but he has done prose as well and is very good at writing essays. Some universities around Station Square are actually quite curious about his essay on the Echidna tribe's folklore involving the seven Chaos Emeralds.

Role Playing

Backstory:
Pyre was once a normal catguy. Nothing extremely remarkable about him other than his vast love and knowledge of literature. One day, he stumble upon a book titled, "The Tome of Hephaestus". Thinking it was a book about Greek mythology, he opened its cover and started reading.
After reading about halfway through the book, he turned to a page that had a strange illustration on it and was struck by a blinding red light. After he woke up, Pyre discovered he had gained the gift of pyrokenisis! For a while, he considered using his ability to fight crime, but then decided that the whole superhero thing was overdone and turned back to leading as close to a normal life as he could. Unfortunately, when you've been chosen to wield the power of Hephaestus, you don't have to look for trouble. Trouble finds you.

Example post:
Pyre lazily flipped through the pages of another book as he walked down the street. He had been studying the folklore of the lost Echidna tribe in his free time for several years and was asked to work as a grad student for one of the professors Station Square University due his writing on the subject. It wasn't much in terms of salary, but for Pyre, it was better than going out and getting a real job.
As he was walking, he felt as if something was watching him. Lowering his book, he turned around and saw a pair of eyes glaring at him from an alleyway suddenly retreat from view. Cautiously, Pyre continued his walk while thinking, "That's the second time I've seen those eyes, I'm starting to worry... am I being followed?"

Two reasons I made this character:

1) To show that you CAN make a balanced self-insert character.

2) I really wanted to make a character based on a "Fire" theme.

Time to elaborate. I know I said not to make a character based on yourself in an earlier topic, but that is because it tends to lead to characters being overpowered. As you can all see, now that we have a numbers system it is difficult to make an ovepowered character and now that we have to have our character judged and approved, not just any character will be allowed. Only balanced characters are OK on this board.

Also, I'm going to allow any background or personality you want as long as it doesn't contradict itself or have tons of plot holes. The new system is designed so everyone can play any way they want, but only because everyone is now balanced. See how well it works?
