Alright, here is a few of my pieces... They're symbolic to me, so if they aren't to you, just ask what they mean, and I'll explain them to you.
Anyways, I've been shooting photography for quite some time, but at the same time, I've been improving slowly.
Please, if you have suggestions/critiques, let me know. I don't take anything the wrong way, I am an open book when it comes to ideas.
Thanks.

These are good. I can see how the cross and the flowers can be symbols, but what's with the bird?

^ Everything he just said. All of those are good.

I understand the cross and flower, but what does the bird mean?

Really nice compositional work. These are some very good photos.

Just a couple minor suggestions:

1. The very shallow focal depth in the flower picture is fine, but why is the focus on the top petals?
2. Some things seem clipped. There is no detail in the lightest and darkest spots of the image in the church picture, and there seem to be some hot areas in the other two as well.
What is it that makes a complete stranger dive into an icy river to save a solid gold baby? Maybe we'll never know.

The bird on the beach represents the simpleness I was experiencing on the beach. Though there was commotion with a lot of the waves crashing, and the garbage that was in its home, it remained calm and settled. It really stood out to me that though there is destruction going on, you can always find a way to remain calm and unmoved.
May not make sense, but it made sense to me.

Also: Sway, in the flower picture the emphasis on the top petals were to show where I found the beauty in the flower. The top ones just seemed better to me, and hence why I attempted to get a good photo out of it. I enjoyed the purple center most out of it.

In the church picture, my emphasis was on the cross mainly. I took it with my black and white film, and when I was focusing in, I guess I ended up making it too sharp with the cross, and I should have tried to focus on the beauty around it as well.

Thanks for the critiques!

I must admit I'm a little disappointed that you didn't invert the colors and apply a neon glow filter for these... Besides that, though, I think these are some really good shots. There are some slight flaws with some of the technical aspects like the contrast and clarity as Sway pointed out, but the subjects and composition of the photos are excellent. Even without having you explain what you were trying to show with each shot, you can tell that there's purpose behind the pictures you're taking, and I really think that makes all the difference.

For the record, the picture of the seagull made me smile. Having just gone on a three-day trip to the coast last week, I know what you mean about the calming simplicity of just standing on the beach. Perhaps the point would have been driven home even more if the bird was facing the waves, but I still think it's a great shot.

They're looking great. Very nice work there, excellent composition, use of angles, lighting, the whole lot.

One... I only have one right now that is able to be uploaded.

I caught my brother as he was peaking his big head above the sand when we were at the beach.

He just reminds me of the idea of "on top of the world", even though that may sound a little stupid.

EDIT: Scratch that... I lied. I found a couple more. I might have already shown these... I don't exactly remember, but these are a few from just the evening when I was out visiting my boyfriend.

:o

Wow. I love your work. Great sense of balance, and your lighting is ace. I especially like the black and white cross. The beach/pigeon and the railroad tracks are some other favorites from this gallery. I really hope you keep taking pictures. :D

Do you have a Flickr? :D
