So I just recently got the second season of Dragonball Z in its digitally remastered box set. I've been enjoying it, since I've never really seen the series episode-per-episode, just random ones in the afternoon on Cartoon Network. One thing that I've noticed is that Bulma is one of the most annoying characters on the show. She's such a whiny bitch!

So, anyone else enjoying these boxed sets? And a big thanks to MoA for telling me about them way back when!

Hey, you're welcome, Kvitne. Glad I was able to recommend something you could enjoy. :)

The only thing I dislike about these sets is the goddamn incessant bitching from the "hardcore" anime crowd who won't get the fuck over the fact that FUNimation cropped a tiny bit of each frame to make the show widescreen, even though the part of the transfers they're cropping are all damaged and ugly to look at. I mean Jesus Christ. People have bitching for somebody to release uncut, dual-language sets of DBZ for almost a decade now, and when someone finally does, people still find something to bitch about! This is the reason I hate most anime fans. This is really the main reason right here. You want to make an offhanded comment about how you dislike the way FUNimation treated the transfers, fine; but to go on and on and on and on and on about it...! Goddamn it all to hell, I'm sorry being unable to see the top of Vegeta's hair in some shots ruined your ability to enjoy the show. Maybe you can try not being such a whiney asshole and going outside once in awhile instead of obsessing over this pointless fucking bullshit that NO ONE CARES ABOUT!

Yeah though, I'm really enjoying the sets. I've got both of 'em, but I haven't finished the first one just yet... I'm still on the Goku/Vegeta fight, which is a real treat to see unedited for the first time. The Japanese version really is like a completely different series in some ways.

Oh man, I loved the first one, I ate that one up a couple weeks after getting it. The Goku/Vegeta fight was so amazingly badass, and I loved it because most of those episodes I had never seen before. I think I had only seen two episodes the entire season: the one where they meet Raditz and one of the episodes where Goku is training with King Kai.

The original uncut episodes are much better than the ones we get up here. I don't have the DVD but once I found on the internet free episodes translated for download I never went back.

I know it won't happen, but when they release the Namek stuff with all the new dubbing they're apparently doing, please let them give Freezer a new voice... God dammit, why does he sound so awesomely psycho in japanese, while his AMerican counterpart has the voice of a GOD DAMN LIBRARIAN?! Jesus... My whole opinion of that character radically changes depending the language... That shouldn't happen...

Anyway, if you really wanna get annoyed, listen to the pissy, obssesive, elitist wierdos at Daizenshuu EX, and listen to that I-N-S-A-N-E podcast they do. Good lord... They got some problems...

I haven't seen the uncut dvds yet, but I'm hoping to see them soon. Cartoon Network was playing the uncut episodes, on week nights last year, but then decided to stop. Once again, they have failed me and now I have to find some other way to see them.

I've only heard Freeza in one voice so I really have no idea how he sounds in Japanese. I'm gonna have to go find out now...

The difference will shock you... Not only is it A MAN, but he does these inhuman shrieks and hisses that not only make the character sound more alien, but make me wonder "how the fuck does he DO that?!" Just watch his transformation into form 3 in Japanese. Holy. Shit.

The easiest way is to just play one of the Tenkaichi games, and switch the voices to japanese, then use him.

They have the first part of the Namek stuff out on DVD right now. I haven't listened to it in it's new form or in Japanese yet, but I'll have to check that out. Especially when Season 3 comes out.
